Florida Congressional Candidate Speaks With Kentroversy

On Friday, August 11, 2006, Dr. Robert Bowman, Congressional Candidate in Florida's 15th District, spoke with Kentroversy about his candidacy, 9/11, military lunacy, truth, and what he is planning to occur after he is voted into office later this year, for a term beginning in January 2007.

Even as busy as he is in the midst of a Congressional campaign, Dr. Robert Bowman took the time to speak with me, as a representative of Ghost Troop. To provide a bit of background on Dr. Bowman, during Viet Nam, he flew 101 combat missions. Upon coming home, he worked in the government's Star Wars program, first under the highly-classified version under Ford and Carter, and later, Lt. Col. Bowman would retire before Ronald Reagan could slap a gag order of confidentiality on him, which would have prevented him from speaking out against the weaponization of space.

Fortunately for us, Dr. Bowman IS able to speak out without fear of reprisal, and he makes quite a forceful and engaging public speaker, as evidenced by his rousing speech during the 9/11 Scholars Symposium held in Los Angeles in June 2006, which was broadcast in part, on CSPAN at the end of July.

Here is the transcript of my interview:

KDB - "To begin our brief interview today, I was wondering if you could provide an overview of who you are, and WHY you decided to run for Congress?"

Dr. B - “Well, I think everything’s on my website [www.bowman2006.com], but as a career military officer, I am concerned about our National Security, and I’m concerned that, for quite some time, we haven’t had a government to serve the people of the United States, according to the Constitution. Instead, we have had a government serving the big money interests. I’m part of a movement which I started last year, to recruit people from all around the country to run for Congress as a Citizen’s Congress, to take back America for the people. We require our candidates to hold to three principles; to follow the Constitution of the United States, to campaign and govern on the truth, and to serve the People for a change.”

KDB – “Excellent, excellent!”

Dr. B – “And I recruited Republicans, Democrats, Greens, Libertarians, Independents, but I couldn’t find anybody in my own district who was willing to run against an entrenched Republican incumbent lap-dog for the fat cats. Finally, the Democratic Executive Committee said ‘There isn’t anyone else, you have to do it yourself. We have to have someone run against this guy.’

I got clearance from my doctors [to run], and I jumped in the race, and been going ever since.”

KDB - "In your opinion, what are the defining issues of this day and age?"

Dr. B - “Well, narrow-basis for the people of this country, I think the defining issues are; number one, every wage a living wage. Every American worker should be able to support his or her family, with one job, working forty hours a week. Number two, health care for everyone. And, to get rid of all these finger-pointing agencies – Medicare, Medicaid, the V.A. [Veteran’s Administration], you name it, and the HMO’s and the Insurance companies and all the rest of it. And, have a single doctor-run, single payer National Health program. And, number three – to support what’s left of our troops by bringing them home while they’re still alive.”

KDB – “Amen.”

KDB - "With so much corruption in Congress, how will you be able to stay above the fray, so to speak?"

Dr. B - “Well, I’m not going to take any lobbyists money or no Corporate contributions. Simply put, my vote isn’t for sale. I’m not in this to build a career in politics, I am not a politician, don’t intend to start now. I’ve worked with Congress a lot in the past as an unpaid lobbyist for the People, combating information from Corporate lobbyists, and advising members of Congress, briefing them on issues, writing legislation for them, helping them with hearings and stuff like that -- ALL as a volunteer. With years of doing that under my belt, I know how the place works up there, and I’m ready to hit the ground running!

This time I’ll be drawing a salary, and I don’t need any more than that [Laughs].”

KDB - "I know from my own study of other candidacies across the country, especially in this election cycle, that if the newly-arriving candidate makes true in-roads with the public, they immediately see the dirty tricks brought out against them. Have you experienced any of this yet?"

Dr. B - “Oh yeah, we’ve had some people Googling me, and Googling some of the awards I’ve received, and if they can’t find it, then it doesn’t exist, and they start rumors that I’m a fraud, and all that kind of thing. Of course, one of my claims to fame, because it got me into thie whole business of being a whistleblower and watchdog, is that I directed all the Star Wars programs under [Presidents] Ford and Carter. And then when Reagan turned the Star Wars program into a crash program for the deployment of offensive weapons to SkySys Defense, I started speaking out.

And, as a matter of fact, Reagan’s own Joint Chief’s of Staff called me in, and said ‘Please, we can’t say anything, we can’t write anything, there’s a total gag order, even if we retire. But YOU retired in time, before Reagan took over. They don’t have a hold on you. Please warn the American people and the Congress about this military lunacy.’ And, I did.”

KDB – “Wow!”

Dr. B – “That got me into this, and got me out of being an executive in industry, because I found that I had LESS Freedom of Speech in industry, than I did in the military!

As far as the dirty tricks, I have had people saying ‘This guy is claiming to have directed Star Wars under Ford and Carter, and that didn’t exist until Reagan. Everybody knows that. And, the problem is of course, that the existence of the Star Wars program was highly-classified when I directed it! Fortunately, some stuff has been de-classified since then, including the secret government report that I wrote to the government in 1977, where I actually used the term ‘Star Wars.’

And, in 1982, the year before Reagan pretended to invent the whole thing [just like Bush would later do with the term New World Order in 1990, ed.], I had several of my articles on ‘Star Wars’ published in the Congressional Record. So, these guys are just showing their stupidity, and I’m getting phone calls at three o’clock in the morning, where they’re calling me names, and so forth.”

KDB – “Oh, wonderful.” [both laugh]

Dr. B – “But, it comes with the territory.”

KDB – “Yeah, absolutely. It means you are doing the right thing.”

KDB - "If we could speak about 9/11 for a moment, how do you plan on making progress in this specific area, where in the past five years, so many others have made no progress at all?"

Dr. B - “I know. Well, I’m trying to craft it in a way that will be hard for people to oppose, merely pointing out what is well-known now, that there were gaping holes in the McCain-Hamilton report, and obvious things at variance with the truth, as they found out about the NORAD [North-American Aerospace Defense Command] tapes, and all that, and it turned out that there were people who lied to the [9/11] Commission and so forth. The [9/11] Commission knew it, and didn’t do anything about it.

There is so much evidence that contradicts the government’s story –- what I call the ‘Official Conspiracy Theory.’ We need a truly independent commission to look into what REALLY HAPPENED, and if it really was nineteen Arab hijackers, and an awful lot of ineptitude and bad luck -- the American People deserve to know that. But, on the other hand, if there were rogue elements in our country complicit in this -- by letting it happen or by actually planning it – we certainly need to know that, and its’ the Story of the Century! One way or another, it HAS to be put to rest."

KDB – “Yeah, definitely. I agree.”

KDB - "Your 'Vision For America' which appears on your campaign website, is beautifully poetic, and it expresses sentiment with which few could not whole-heartedly agree. You mentioned in the 9/11 Scholars Symposium that you have already organized co-sponsors and supporters with those already in Congress. Without mentioning anyone prematurely, could you confirm that among those names, are people who will be able to help push your agenda forward?"

Dr. B - “Some of these folks [in Congress] are challengers, like myself. I cannot confirm anything except that I am lining up [legislative] co-sponsors. In addition, in that Symposium, I also said that I was lining up con-sponsors for Articles of Impeachment. The way that came across, and this was completely unrehearsed. They gave us five or six minutes in front of CSPAN, and so, it came out sounding like I wanted to Impeach Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Rice for 9/11. That is NOT the case. We don’t know whether anybody in our government was complicit in that, and that’s why we need an investigation.”

KDB – “Right.”

Dr. B – “However, I think we definitely know that those folks used manipulated intelligence and deliberate deception to hoodwink the Congress and the American people into allowing them to conduct their favored war against Iraq and Afghanistan. I think THAT is an impeachable offense.”

KDB – “I agree with that, one-hundred percent.”

Dr. B – “So, I just wanted to clarify that I wasn’t calling for their impeachment over 9/11, because we haven’t yet proven that they’re guilty.”

KDB – “Good point.”

KDB - "Those few honest polls, that you do see on the Internet from time to time, are now showing support for the Bush regime to be less than 10% among those polled. There have been reports coming out of the White House that are saying that the President has become withdrawn, angry, and frustrated by the level of HATRED that is being directed his way at the present time. Would you care to comment on the growing danger that this individual and his keepers are to this nation, so long as they remain in this state of agitation?"

Dr. B - “The danger that they represent is only what the rest of us around them ALLOW them to exercise. If we have a Congress which conducts itself under their responsibilities under the Constitution, they will not allow this President to go fight a war of aggression, because they won’t authorize it, and they won’t pay for it. In addition, if the military chain of command does its’ job under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, their oath of office, and the Nuremberg principles -- if the President of any of his people in a fit of temper, or panic, or desperation, says ‘Go nuke Iran’ -- they will not only refuse to carry out that illegal order, but, they will arrest whoever gave the order as a War Criminal.”

KDB – “Yes, let us hope that this happens.”

Dr. B – “And, I’m planting that seed whenever I get a chance. And, as a matter of fact, I have personal knowledge that twice before in recent history, the military chain of command had taken the nuclear button out of the hand of the President. It happened once with Reagan, and once with Nixon.

KDB – “Hmmm. That’s interesting.”

KDB - "Your comments on Medicare Part D are amazingly accurate. As soon as that program came into existence on January 1st of this year, just for one example -- the price of a prescription of a drug called Marinol -– which is the THC from marijuana in a sesame seed oil suspension liquid -– the price of this prescription went from $7.00 per capsule to $20.00 per capsule, literally overnight. The usual dosage of this is two to three capsules per day. Which means that this prescription went from $200 to $300 per month, to its’ current $1,200 to $1,800 per month!

How would you propose breaking the hold that the pharmaceutical companies have on the American healthcare system, especially under this Medicare Part D scam?"

Dr. B - “Well, I would get rid of Medicare Part D for Disaster, altogether. And, include prescription drugs under Medicare as just another form of treatment, like an appendectomy or an office visit for an X-Ray. This should be covered under Medicare, period. I also believe that the co-pay, or deductible, for any medication should not exceed ten dollars a month.”

KDB – “That sounds very reasonable.”

Dr. B – “And, of course, the government should be able to negotiate with the pharmaceutical companies for the best possible price. They should also, if necessary, be authorized to buy their drugs from Canada, or wherever else.

KDB – “Yes, the bar to them doing just that, is this little ordeal called the Orphan Drug Law. This means for a period for seven years after FDA approval, they have a complete bull run through the China Shop, with monopoly pricing on these drugs. During this time, for example, for the AIDS drugs that have come out has meant tens and tens of billions of dollars to these pharmaceutical companies."

Dr. B – “Well, there may be laws that we have to change.

KDB – “And I would suggest that this is a great place to start."

Before I go, I just wanted to again let you know that I greatly appreciate your time today. I know you are very busy.”

Dr. B. – “Well, I thank you Kent, and I would be happy to talk again.”
