November 2007 Will Belong To Led Zeppelin (w/ Updates!)
On November 20th, 2007 -- Atlantic Records and Rhino Entertainment will release a newly EXPANDED version of the CD Soundtrack and a deluxe 2-DVD Set of the bands' 'The Song Remains The Same' concert film, respectively.
Just in time for my 46th birthday!!
NOVEMBER 2007 WILL BELONG TO LED ZEPPELIN (w/ UPDATES!)
by Kentroversy
This November of 2007 will see the release of three separate Led Zeppelin audio-video projects, which will no doubt delight long time fans, such as myself and most people I know who enjoy great 'classic-rock' music. Selling over 300 million albums worldwide since 1969, with 109.5 million albums sold in the USA during this time, the Led Zeppelin juggernaut rolls onward -- and nothing is going to slow it any time soon.
November 13th will see the release of yet another official Led Zeppelin greatest hits collection, allegedly compiled by the three surviving members of the band -- Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones. I say 'allegedly' here, simply because this new release, entitled MOTHERSHIP, is suspiciously similar to the 1990 compilation REMASTERS -- which was a 2-Disc 'sampler' of that years' 4-Disc box set, which was referred to as simply, LED ZEPPELIN. Aimed squarely at 'new' fans, MOTHERSHIP contains 24 tracks spread out over two discs, with a nearly identical track listing. An example, 'When The Levee Breaks' was added, and 'Battle of Evermore' was deleted.
On November 13, 2007 -- Atlantic Records and Rhino Entertainment will release the compilation MOTHERSHIP, which is suspiciously similar to the 1990 compilation REMASTERS. Except for a couple different songs, and a slightly different running order, they are identical.
MOTHERSHIP will be released in multiple editions:
- Standard Edition - 2-CD Set
- Deluxe Edition - 2-CD/1-DVD Set (DVD contains excerpts from 2003's 'Led Zeppelin' DVD box set release)
- Collector's Edition - 2-CD/1-DVD LIMITED EDITION
- Vinyl Edition - 4 LP Set, audiophile quality vinyl with collectable memorabilia.

'THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME' DVD REVISITED:
To cash in even further, Warner Brothers Home Video is releasing a brand-new expanded edition of the bands' 1976 concert film, which is entitled 'The Song Remains The Same.' For the first time ever, the ENTIRE CONCERT will be presented in Dolby 5.1 Surround.
The new DVD of 'The Song Remains The Same' comes in a 'Limited Collector's Edition' -- which includes the DVD's, a copy of the CD Soundtrack, a limited-edition t-shirt, lobby cards, a replica of the ticket to the premiere of the film, tour schedule for the 1976 tour, plus even more goodies!
The new 'The Song Remains The Same' DVD will be available in the following editions:
- Deluxe Edition DVD
- Deluxe Edition HD DVD and Blu-Ray DVD
- Limited Collector's Edition - 2-DVD LIMITED EDITION includes collectible vintage T-shirt with original album artwork design, soundtrack CD, lobby cards, reproductions of original premiere invites, tour schedule, and more! "We have revisited 'The Song Remains The Same'," says Jimmy Page, "and can now offer the complete set as played at Madison Square Garden. This differs substantially from the original soundtrack released in 1976, and highlights the technical prowess of Kevin Shirley, who worked with us on 'How The West Was Won'. When it comes to 'The Song Remains The Same', the expansion of the DVD and soundtrack are as good as it gets on the LED ZEPPELIN wish list."

But, that's NOT ALL ...
Billboard.com, the website of the music industry's trade paper, on Friday July 27, 2007 -- made the following announcement:
All the catalog activity gives further heft to rumors Plant, Page and Jones will reunite to perform at a proposed Ahmet Ertegun tribute concert this fall in London. Although no details have been announced, the group is also said to be mulling offers to tour under the Led Zeppelin name in 2008 with the late John Bonham's son Jason filling in on drums.
All of this activity takes place a few days before my own birthday, which I am going to enjoy immensely ...
UPDATE: September 12, 2007
Today, the surviving members of Led Zeppelin had a press conference held in their honor, to announce their reformation for what is now a one-off performance, which will be held in London on November 26, 2007. A tribute benefit concert to honor their comrade and co-consiprator, Ahmet Ertegun, the co-founder of Atlantic Records -- who signed the band to his label in 1968 -- and who died at age 83 in December 2006 after falling at a Rolling Stones concert.
The son of the late John Bonham -- Jason Bonham -- will be sitting behind the drums for this two-hour performance that marks the band's first full concert since 1980, when the band toured Europe prior to Bonham's untimely death in September 1980.
There are heavy rumors that there may be a full-fledged reunion tour in 2008, which were fueled by none other than Jimmy Page himself, who told the BBC rather cryptically:
"When we get into a room together to play, if we look around and smile, we know it feels good to play together again. And this has happened."
Until those plans for the 2008 reunion tour are officially announced -- demand for the November 26th show had brought TWENTY-FIVE MILLION fans to try to register for tickets through the lottery system that has been established, crashing the website under the weight of the demand. In all, the ticket registration website had gotten 125 MILLION hits in its' first twenty-four hours. It had been estimated by concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith that perhaps ONE-MILLION people would try to get tickets.
However, Goldsmith was OFF by a factor of TWENTY-FIVE ... !!!
My name has been entered in the lottery, as if I have a chance to go, I am NOT going to miss what could very well be my last-ever chance to see this band live -- the one rock concert I have never had the chance to see previously -- by my all-time favorite group -- LED ZEPPELIN.
UPDATE: September 19, 2007
On November 26th, 2007 -- LED ZEPPELIN will play their first full-length gig since the IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR tour, which was cut short by the untimely death of John Bonham, the greatest rock drummer of all-time! The graphic above is from the band's official website at LEDZEPPELIN.COM.
Registration for the LED ZEPPELIN ticket lottery for the November 26, 2007 show has officially closed. In the seven days that the registration was open, the AhmetTribute.com website received ONE BILLION page hits, as more than ONE-HUNDRED AND TWENTY MILLION people attempted to register. I am certain that this is some kind of record for the Internet.
I have never heard of ANY website getting ONE BILLION page hits in a seven day time-frame ...
During the first twenty-four hours, the demand was so high that not only did it crash the ticket lottery website, but it also crashed the entire ISP that the website was using to bring it online to the world. It was getting 80,000 page hits per minute, for a total of five million hits per hour!
The good news is this ...
Of all these ONE-HUNDRED AND TWENTY MILLION PEOPLE who had attempted to register, only one million were able to get through to actually successfully register their name for a pair of the highly coveted tickets.
This is a 1 in 50 chance of scoring a pair of tickets to the most anxiously awaited reunion show that has ever been held ... !!!
Finally, let us all who are ZEPPELIN fans hope that the band uses these numbers as a gauge of interest in a full-out reunion tour in 2008. They are ALREADY talking about performing a second show in the very theatre where they performed STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN for the very first time -- when it reopens after renovations in 2008. This is in Ulster Hall in Belfast, Ireland; where STAIRWAY was first performed on March 5, 1971.
Stairway To Heaven is the all-time most requested song in the history of contemporary rock music -- and it often appears at number one whenever the most popular songs are compiled at various radio stations across the world.
The promoter of the November 26, 2007 show had this to say:
"We are absolutely overwhelmed with the number of hits received," declared promoter Harvey Goldmsmith.
He added: "In the first day alone, we received an unprecedented number of hits that literally knocked the website out. Over the last seven days we have recorded over 1,000 million hits. This response is amazing and from it we have had over one million registrations. We would like to thank all the fans for their support and we hope that all those fortunate to be successful will keep the tickets out of the hands of touts [ticket scalpers]."

With all thats going on, you could not find 1, more important topic to cover?
With the inside information you have?
There is so much information today that is imperative on so many levels, and so few people out there that are willing to spend time and effort to further disseminate it.
I understand that you disseminate information. I'm just pleading "wheres the meat".
Greetings:
Every once in awhile, I like to provide information about things that my readers might enjoy. THIS is one of those cases. Personally, the information about the upcoming Led Zeppelin releases (and possible reunion tour next summer of 2008) is important to me and I am sure, some of my readers, as well. I am 45 years old, and have been a fan of theirs since 1969, when I was only 8 years old.
I am sure that you have seen your local daily newspaper. In that paper, there is an Entertainment Section, is there not?
Not every single thing I have to publish, is going to be heavy, heavy, BAD NEWS -- for instance in one of my newsletter mailings, I mentioned this phenomenal website related to FREE music concerts by quite any band you could name. This website is called WOLFGANG'S VAULT. Many of my readers thanked me for providing that information once they saw what the website consisted of.
If you want to know "Where's the meat?" feel free to check out the 450+ Kentroversy Papers that are on this website. There is more than enough there to keep you busy for a year or so of constant reading.
I suggest you begin with the KENTROVERSY SPECIAL REPORTS, which are listed on the front page of this site, in the right-hand table of contents.
Thank you for your opinion, however.

Hi Kent,
Firstly, thanks for pointing out the Crowley inspired lyrics on 'Carouselambra', I hadn't noticed before.
Secondly, IMHO I think 'How The West Was Won' is a better live album than 'Song Remains..' especially the first disc of the set, but the new added tracks on 'Song' should merit a listen to this edition.
Lastly, I hope you get what you want for your birthday after dropping all those hints, LOL.
Greetings:
'Carouselambra' is one of my most favorite LZ songs of all, and not just because of the lyrical connection to Equinox of the Gods. It is Jimmy's drugged-out guitar textures that intrigue me about this song. Also, Robert's lyrics are telling the tale of magickal conquest.
I too favor the 2003 HOW THE WEST WAS WON -- and it may be perhaps because it is a newer release that is less familiar to my ears. I have been listening to THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME since the very day of its' release in October 1976.
When I saw the notice about these new releases, I just HAD TO post a quick article about the details, as this is very exciting news. I have often wanted to see and hear the whole show at MSG, and now, I will finally get to do just that.
My real desire is for this reunion tour with Jason Bonham, whom I have seen twice in concert -- both times he was performing with Jimmy Page.
Wherever and whenever this will be happening, I will be there. I will definitely go to more than one show, as it is obviously going to be a one-off situation, and as they say:
"If you snooze, you lose!"

Hello again Kent,
I recently heard you expressing your interest in Dr John Coleman & wondered what you thought of his view that most modern music is some kind of satanic/Tavistock plot against youth. For example, to quote from his views on the Beatles - 'The 12-atonal system consisted of heavy, repetitive sounds, taken from the music of the cult of Dionysus and the Baal priesthood by Theo Adorno and given a "modern" flavor by this special friend of the Queen of England and hence the Committee of 300.'

As a longtime rocker and also one who seeks the 'truth', I'm happy to say that I think I can successfully straddle the two worlds without losing my soul, LOL, how about you?
Greetings:
In my opinion, Dr. John Coleman is one of the most important voices in the world of esoteric research. His material is highly accurate, and unparalleled in terms of the 'inside dope' on systems such as the Committee of 300 and the Tavistock Institute. In fact, his recent book on Tavistock is something I am very much looking forward to reading, once my copy arrives from his office in Nevada, USA.
Unfortunately, I am NOT a musician myself, and because of this, I cannot discern this matter on that level. I wish someone would do an in-depth audio-visual documentary on this idea of the 12-Note Atonal System of Theo Adorno. I believe that this would be very fascinating, and would be of interest to a great many people.
As far as The BEATLES were concerned, yes, I can absolutely see how they could have been a creation of Tavistock. The way in which they were presented AND marketed to the fans, along with the entire PAUL IS DEAD enigma is exactly the type of operation they would undertake.
THIS is how far I allow myself to go with this matter.
As far as the music itself, I think it is clear by their solo output; that the most talented of The BEATLES were John Lennon and George Harrison. Their material was highly consistent. Paul McCartney, however, had gotten very stale and his recent solo work leads me to ask if this is the same guy or not?! His recent work is horrible compared to what he did with WINGS.
Now, is ALL rock music based on this system? Is every band the product of Tavistock? Personally, I do not think so. This is just my gut feeling.
How about the band of which this article was written, LED ZEPPELIN?
Personally, I think that LZ is more the product of Jimmy Page's practice of Thelemic Magick; as well as his raw talent and technical proficiency as a musician, songwriter, and producer, than it is from any outside source such as Tavistock.
Nevertheless, I would still like to see this covered in a DVD or a series of DVD's as a documentary.
