BRANDON COREY: A LESSON IN RESEARCH

Earlier this afternoon, I was given a link to watch a DVD on the GOOGLE VIDEO website. It was for something called THE BRANDON COREY STORY, a documentary supposedly filmed to capture Dick Cheney shapeshifting into a reptilian alien hybrid. The cover art for the DVD package was gory and provocative, showing 'Brandon Corey' with his index and pinkie fingers cut off. Before I watched the 93 minute presentation, I wondered skeptically how they were going to handle the subject of a man who had two fingers cut off. I wanted to know exactly, what was Brandon Corey's story? And, was it a true story, or some well-crafted disinformation piece, designed to damage the credibility of those who are seriously studying and researching this reptilian shapeshifting phenomenon?

As it turned out, it didn't take long for me to get an answer to the question of truth in this matter.

Before I get to that part of the story, allow me a few moments to talk about research and how to verify the veracity of evidence encountered in the course of researching a subject, or how to verify data as being either credible or bogus through use of the scientific method. Simply put, in the Scientific Method, the investigator starts out with the facts and then uses them to reach a hypothesis. The researcher goes where the evidence leads them. Once all the data has been obtained, the researcher develops a working hypothesis. This hypothesis is subject to change at any moment, and an honest researcher with no prevailing agenda will stretch the boundaries of all that is known about the subject which they are studying.

Running a GOOGLE search, and reading a bunch of linked articles is not by itself, research. In my own writing and journalism, it is merely a jumping off point, a place of beginning. There are other deeper levels of research that must be studied, and that is why I don't pump out several articles per day. I do not release something until I am absolutely sure of the data contained therein. In the case of the Brandon Corey DVD, there were several problems that immediately placed this in the category of HOAX; and it was only about twenty minutes of true web research that verified this story as BOGUS.

To begin my research, I took notes as I watched the DVD, which had been posted on the GOOGLE VIDEO website, which I did on the afternoon of October 31, 2006. I must have been one of the very last people to watch this before the producers had it pulled from the GOOGLE VIDEO website, because it is no longer available on that site, as of fifteen minutes after I had viewed the video, learning the true story behind it.

The narrator of the video mentioned several times that it was Truthseeker TV that had produced the video. So, naturally, I began my research by heading over to the Truthseeker TV website, the link for which appears below, in the Sources section at the end of this article. At the site, I was met with two disclaimer-like announcements:

• This Is What Happens To You When You Get To Close To The Truth About Our World Leaders!

These two 'disclaimers' were my first hint that this was a low-budget mockumentary, and NOT something real and genuine, as there were two typos in the above disclaimers. In the first, it should be the word 'stop us from selling it' instead of 'stop us from selling this,' and in the second, it should be 'too close' instead of 'to close.' A real professional production company has the money to hire copy writers who actually know the English language!

After I watched the entire 93 minute video, which purported to show 'Brandon Corey' and his filming a documentary to catch Dick Cheney shapeshifting into a reptilian-being on camera. Supposedly, 'Brandon's' punishment for this was having two of his fingers of the left hand removed -- his index and pinkie fingers. This sent up RED-FLAG number one. These people of Cheney's cabal outright MURDER those who get too close to the truth, and NOT merely cut off fingers!

Next, I went to a website called Superpages.com, which contains a search engine enabling a search through the national phone book directories of all cities of all fifty states. As 'Brandon Corey' was said to reside in Malibu, CA USA, I ran a search for that name in that city. Naturally, nothing came up. However, this could mean that 'Brandon's' phone number is simply unlisted, as are many people. Then, I ran a search in a national website that searches property records, utility bills, and other similar public records. There was no listing for 'Brandon Corey' in Malibu, CA USA. If there WAS such a person, it would have shown up on THAT site!

'Brandon Corey' was said to be a millionaire, and IF THAT were true, his name would have shown up in the Internet search engines AND in the search engines that enable searches of stocks and bonds ownership. Alas, no such person showed up in any type of business or stock-market related searches.

'Brandon' was said to have an ex-wife named Mary A. Hill. I found nearly seventy listings for a person by that name, including a Mary A. Hill that was born in November 1968, and who had moved around a great deal. I phoned that Mary A. Hill, and she stated that she had never heard of anyone by the name of 'Brandon Corey.'

In the DVD production, there was a newspaper clipping showing an alleged triple suicide involving 'Brandon's' Washington, DC contact. There were several problems with this. First, we have another misspelling in the headline of the article. Next, Major Karl South Jr. and the deaths of his wife and daughter could NOT be located in any search engine, which certainly WOULD HAVE made the news, if it were in fact true.

The alleged video of this contact of 'Brandon's' was portrayed as an African-American in the news article shown, yet the clip clearly has the voice of a Caucasian man speaking.

If 'Brandon Corey' showed up in any type of a hospital setting with two fingers removed, it would have certainly made the news SOMEWHERE. But, there is no such news story to be found anywhere on the Internet. This man would at a minimum, would have been a guest on one of the many radio talk-shows related to conspiracy subject matter. But, no such guest ever appeared on ANY radio talk-show!

'Brandon' was said to have two sons, yet no one listed in California had ever been born to a father named 'Brandon Corey.' Obviously, if the man does NOT exist, his children cannot exist either!

Yet another way of proving that this story is complete hokum, is that all contacts of 'Brandon Corey' are conveniently unavailable for comment.

Just as with 'Brandon Corey,' there is no such person as 'Jude Kemper' listed in all the same databases and search engines I had examined in trying to locate anyone by the name of 'Brandon Corey.' 'Jude Kemper' was a 'friend' who had allegedly disappeared as a result of this story.

At one point, a so-called paranormal expert is trotted out and appears on-screen. His name was listed as Richard Weyman, PhD. of the Department of Occult Research in Denver, CO USA. There is no such person, and there is no such paranormal group that could be located either online or through the national phone book registry. There was one additional problem with Richard Weyman, as well. He is actually an actor who appeared on five episodes of THE X-FILES, and his real name is Kirk B. R. Woller.

The Marine Major that supposedly committed suicide was said to be part of a mysterious 'cult' known as The Arena. However, in searching the Cult Awareness Network website, no such group is known to exist.

At one point in the proceedings, a 'Tom Crawford' from 'Digital Tech Solutions' was interviewed about the technology that would exist on-site where Dick Cheney was staying while traveling. First of all, such equipment is TOP SECRET, and it would NEVER be shown on camera! Secondly, however, no such company exists, and no such employee does, either!

The Social Security card of 'Jude Kemper' is shown, and it had the following number:

555-25-4762

This threw up yet another red-flag, as 555 is the telephone exchange used in television and in the movies to avoid giving out someone's REAL PHONE NUMBER. No Social Security cards were ever issued with this 555 prefix.

At one point, 'Brandon Corey's' Yale University diploma is shown. This was laughable, as it clearly was one of those copy-store knock-offs, as the real YALE DIPLOMAS look quite different, and are not the cheesy el-cheapo version shown on-screen.

Things get truly ridiculous when 'Brandon' infiltrates Bohemian Grove. He is seen going down into a basement catacomb-like maze of dark corridors, and at last, he stumbles upon the room in which a Satanic ritual is taking place, with Grey Aliens in attendance. The footage shows a woman, naked from the waist up, bound to an altar. Chanting can be heard. However, the chanting is nonsense verbiage and intonations, and does not conform to any known ritual, Satanic or otherwise.

"Brandon' had snuck past Secret Service guards (impossible!!) and into the room where the ritual is behind held. There are many problems with THIS part of the story, as well. Bohemian Grove is a 2,700 acre compound, and it holds its' rituals OUTDOORS -- it is the Mid-Summer Night's Dream time of the year, after all! They would be outdoors, just as shown by the hidden camera footage of the CREMATION OF CARE ceremony, which was filmed by Alex Jones, and is now infamous for this reason -- it shows a REAL ritual -- and NOT some staged nonsense as shown on THIS DVD. In a 2,700 acre compound, there would be no one that would hear them outside any way! Sound does NOT travel that far!!

Finally, "Brandon Corey" turns out to be the Producer of Truthseeker TV, a man by the name of Jimi Petulla. Here is what he had to say about this documentary ... ahem ... Hollywood movie:

"Our film 'The Brandon Corey Story' was made because we saw a growing movement of people who are sick of being lied to. The truth is you cannot go into a movie theatre any more and see "the truth." In fact, all you see are lies and disinformation. Well, that's fine for some, but, there are (we hope) millions of people everywhere that want alternative programming, new movies that aren't afraid to tell the whole truth. But to do this, we need the peoples' support so we can get more of these movies made. It's that simple. If we don't have the support of the people, then we will never get anywhere. This movie is going to upset a lot of people, but the truthseekers out there will appreciate it. If they support it, we'll keep them coming, one or two a year."

So, let's review, shall we?

This was a 'documentary' until people were able to debunk it, as I have pointed out here in this space. THEN, all of the sudden, it is a Hollywood film.

Truthseeker TV is marketing to a group of people who are sick and tired of being lied to. And, the technique they employ?

They LIE to their viewers ... and provide disinformation. The same disinformation that they claim to be against!

I don't know about you, dear reader, but for me, one film is more than enough from Truthseeker TV.

Dear David Icke supporters,

While many of you have written to say how much you appreciate this movie, a few have said they were unhappy with the way we at TruthseekerTV chose to market the film. Some of you feel that our marketing was not genuine, that we represented the film as fact when it was and is FICTION based on fact, and portraying the great and courageous work of David Icke.

David told us over and over that the film had to be promoted as a MOVIE and not documentary fact and we apologize if we didn't make this clear enough in accordance with his wishes. It was not our intention to mislead, but we know that David is far from pleased to say the least that some could be left with the impression that the story was real.

The theme is certainly true, and we have had so many wonderful emails from those who have seen the MOVIE for what it is, an attempt to bring David Icke's work into the mainstream by presenting our movie as a sort of "Blair Witch Project". We see now that this was a mistake.

It is sad, however, to be subjected to abuse and personal attacks for simply trying to let people know, through a movie, what is happening in their world. But David warned us that when you enter this 'conspiracy arena' facing abuse, even from those who claim to be against the conspiracy, is part of daily life.

Again, let us be clear, our only goal is to try and get the wider public and critics of David Icke to watch the movie, to watch subject matter that they normally would never have given attention to. We never intended to hurt David or anyone. In fact, what we wanted is just the opposite and clearly from the response of so many, we are achieving our aim of getting people to look at what David is saying.

For the record, the movie The Brandon Corey Story is fiction based on fact. Our goal was to try and get this seen by the millions of folks who might not otherwise have heard of David or listened to him. We felt that the best way to do this was to market this as real. We realize now that we should have made it completely clear that it was a movie. The good news is that people unaware of David's research are watching this movie and the reviews for the most part have been excellent.

We have gotten many calls requesting interviews from mainstream papers and TV shows, so our goal is working. We would also emphasise that David Icke was not involved in the production of this movie, except to appear as himself and pass on his knowledge to the viewers, but he has always supported our aim of getting this information to a much wider audience worldwide.

We at TruthseekerTV stand for truth. We believe that the best way to disseminate truth that might be hard for some to swallow (the Reptilians for example) is to get information under the radar so the public have the opportunity to choose what to believe. Getting a full-blown documentary out to the public on these deeper - Reptilian - themes is extremely difficult because of the suppression of such information. This is an attempt to get around the problem.

Please accept our apology and thanks for supporting David Icke and The Brandon Corey Story. Together we can make this excellent movie have maximum impact in allowing people to see the world as it really is. And so long as we make it clear it is a movie and not a documentary, David Icke is very supportive of us and what we are trying to achieve.

THE BOTTLED WATER LIE

The corporations that sell bottled water are depleting natural resources, jacking up prices, and lying when they tell you their water is purer and tastes better than the stuff that comes out of the tap.


When Antonia Mahoney moved to Boston from her native Puerto Rico 35 years ago, the first thing she noticed was how much better the water tasted. Over the years, however, the water she was receiving from her tap began to lose its appeal. "Little by little, the taste changed," says the retired schoolteacher, who eventually gave up tap water altogether and began paying over $30 a month to get bottles of Poland Spring water delivered to her house.

Walking through Boston's Copley Square on a sunny day last month, however, she was intrigued by a banner advertising something called the "Tap Water Challenge." As she approached the table, a fresh-faced activist behind it told her the "challenge" was a blind taste test to see if passersby could tell the difference between bottled water and tap water. Mahoney turned her back while four water samples were poured into small paper cups -- two of tap water from Boston and a nearby suburb, and one each of Poland Spring and Aquafina.

"That's tap water," Mahoney declared after draining the first cup. "That tastes just like what I drink at home." Her confidence faded, however, as she downed the next three, which all seemed to taste the same. When the cups were turned over, it turned out that what she thought was tap water was actually Aquafina -- and what she thought was Poland Spring was actually the same Boston tap water she gets at home for free. "I couldn't believe it, I couldn't believe it," she says later. "You know I pay so much for that water. Now I am thinking to stop the Poland Spring."

Mahoney wasn't alone in that decision. A student from Connecticut who attends Massachusetts College of Art says that she has cartons of bottled water stocked in her dorm room, because she doesn't want to chance city tap water. After taking (and flunking) the test, she says now she'll start drinking from the faucet. "It tastes the same as the tap water I drink at home in Connecticut, and I drink that all the time," says the student, Katey vanBerkum. "Why spend your money on bottled water if you don't have to."

The two are among the many who have been converted across the country over the past year by the taste test, which, if not quite as ubitquitous as the Pepsi Challenge, is equally surprising in its results. Of the hundreds of people who have participated in the Tap Water Challenge in cities including Austin, Baltimore, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia, few of them were able to identify all the samples correctly, says Gigi Kellett, who is doling out water samples this afternoon. "It's usually those who are the most die-hard or committed to a certain brand who are most surprised when they realize they can't tell the difference," she says.

Kellett is associate campaigns director at Corporate Accountability International (CAI), a nonprofit formerly known as Infact, which is best-known for its relentless crusade against tobacco companies in the 1990s. Now, the group has started a campaign to blow away perceptions that bottled water is somehow better-tasting or purer than good old H2O from the tap. At stake, they say, is the increasing commodification of a resource that should be a basic human right, not a product on sale for $1.50 at the local convenience store.

In the past decade, the bottled water market has more than doubled in the United States, surpassing juice, milk, and beer to become the second most popular beverage after soft drinks. According to a 2003 Gallup poll, three in four Americans drink bottled water, and one in five drink only bottled water. Together, consumers spent some $10 billion on the product last year, consuming an average of 26 gallons of the stuff per person, according the Beverage Marketing Corporation. At the same time, companies spend some $70 million annually to advertise their products. Typical are Aquafina's ads advertising the beverage as "the purest of waters," Dasani's ads contending the water is "pure as water can get."

In fact, says Kellett, not only does tap water often taste the same as bottled water, but it is also often safer to drink as well. "They are spending tens of millions of dollars every year to undermine our confidence in tap water," she says, "even though water systems here in the United States are better regulated than bottled water." That's because tap water is regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which imposes strict limits on chemicals and bacteria, constant testing by government agencies, and mandatory notification to the public in the event of contamination.

Bottled water, on the other hand, is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which according to federal law is technically required to hold itself to the same standards as the EPA. The devil is in the details, however, since FDA regulations only apply to water that is bottled and transported between states, leaving out the two-thirds of water that is solely transported within states. State laws, meanwhile, are inconsistent, with some mirroring the FDA standards, some going beyond them and some falling far short of the national regulations. What's more, FDA regulations rely on companies to do their own testing, and perform voluntary recalls if products are found to be in violation of standards (if a company fails to do so, the Justice Department can order a seizure of products).

A 1999 study by the National Resources Defense Council of more than 1,000 bottles of water found that, while most bottled water was safe, some brands violated strict state standards on bacterial contamination, while others were found to contain harmful chemicals such as arsenic. The report concluded that bottled water was no safer than water taken from the tap.

In fact, many times bottled water is tap water. Contrary to the image of water flowing from pristine mountain springs, more than a quarter of bottled water actually comes from municipal water supplies. The industry is dominated by three companies, who together control more than half the market: Coca-Cola, which produces Dasani; Pepsi, which produces Aquafina; and Nestlé, which produces several "local" brands including Poland Spring, Arrowhead, Deer Park, Ozarka and Calistoga (a fact that itself often surprises participants in the Tap Water Challenges). Both Coke and Pepsi exclusively use tap water for their source, while Nestlé uses tap water in some brands.

Of course, Coke and Pepsi tout the elaborate additional steps they take that purify the water after it comes out of the tap, with both companies filtering it multiple times to remove particulates before subjecting it to additional techniques such as "reverse osmosis" and ozone treatment. Reverse osmosis, however, is hardly state of the art -- essentially consisting of the same treatment applied through commercially available home tap water filters, while ozonation can introduce additional problems such as the formation of the chemical bromate, a suspected carcinogen. In March 2004, Coca-Cola was forced to recall nearly 500,000 bottles of Dasani water in the United Kingdom due to bromate contamination that exceeded the U.K. and U.S. limit of 10 parts per billion. This past August, three grocery stores chains in upstate New York who all used local company Mayer Bros. to produce their store brands issued recalls after samples were found contaminated with more than double the bromate limit; in some cases, contaminated water was apparently sold for five weeks before the problem was detected.

Water originating with groundwater sources, meanwhile, can have its own problems. Citizens in states including Maine, Michigan, Texas, and Florida have all fought against Nestlé, whom they accuse of harming the environment by depleting aquifers and damaging stream systems with extractions of massive amounts of water though their local bottling affiliates, for which they pay next to nothing in fees and then sell at a huge markup. In 2003, Michigan Citizens for Water Conservation (MCWC) won a landmark court victory shutting down a Nestlé plant that was taking water from a stream that fed a wildlife refuge, sensitive marshland and several lakes.

"When you look at the fallen level of the stream, a couple of inches can mean everything to the environment," says Jim Olson, an attorney with the group. "It changed a natural regime that has built up over centuries, drying up ancient marshes of sedge grass relied on by wildfowl, interfering with spawning habits of great northern pike, and creating mudflats in areas where you used to be able to canoe." The injunction against Nestlé was partially overturned last year on appeal, however, in a decision that set a new, looser standard for water rights. The case is currently being considered by the Michigan state Supreme Court.

International Bottled Water Association spokesperson Stephen Kay defends the rights of bottled water producers to extract water, saying that bottled water producers are no different than any other industrial user or food producer that uses water in its products. Nationally, he says that bottled water only accounts for .02 percent of water use in the country, and that even in local cases, water producers are sometimes singled out unfairly as the most visible users of water, while other large users of water are given a pass. "We need to understand all of the uses on an aquifer and make sound and scientific judgements that take all of those uses into consideration," he says.

Kay questions the idea behind the Tap Water Challenges, saying that consumers have chosen bottled water not only for its consistency and taste, but also for its convenience. It isn't competing so much against tap water, he says, as it is against other beverage options. "If consumers are in a convenience store and they want a beverage without calories, caffeine, or sugar, it's just ready to go," he says. "In this era of obesity, it's irresponsible to try and sway consumers away from a healthful beverage choice."

While he allows that some tap water might taste as good as bottled water, he says, not all water users are so lucky. In some parts of the country, water is tinged with a sulphurous taste or suffers from a noticeable taint of chlorine. Indeed, at the Tap Water Challenge in Boston, one participant, Leila Saba, says she drinks tap water in Boston but chooses bottled water when she visits her parents at home in South Florida, where the water has an unpleasant taste. "I think tap water is always safe to drink," she says, "but they could make an effort to make the water taste better."

For the activists behind the taste test however, the growth of bottled water undermines the public's willingness to invest in the kind of infrastructure investments that could improve all public water supplies -- opening up the door in some cases to privatization of water systems by for-profit corporations. "People get in the habit of paying a lot more for their drinking water, and they say if we are paying for bottled water, there is no reason we shouldn't be paying a lot for these water services," says Tony Clarke, director of the Polaris Institute and author of "Inside the Bottle," a report critical of the bottled water industry. The downside, he says, is increased cost. "Whenever there is a public service utility taken over by a private service the first thing that happens is that rates are jacked up."

That's exactly what happened in the city of Cochabamba in Bolivia in 2000, when takeover of its water by the Bechtel Corp. sparked a popular uprising known as the Water War, in which citizens successfully reclaimed their water supply as a public right. Today, some 300 million people around the world still get their water from private suppliers. In the United States, water privatization has been a disaster, with cities such as Atlanta, Indianapolis and New Orleans seeing rates soar and quality suffer after contracting with private companies such as France's Suez and Veolia.

The struggle over control of water is only bound to get more heated over the next few years. Currently, more than 1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water, a number that is only bound to rise with increases in population and environmental stresses. This past March, environmental and indigenous groups converged on Mexico City to protest the World Water Forum, a meeting of industry and government leaders from around the world, sponsored by Coca-Cola., in which leaders failed even to agree that water was a basic human right. This month, citizens in 30 countries have planned demonstrations on the issue in an effort dubbed "Blue October," which will include a street celebration in La Paz to commemorate the Water War, and culminate next week in a three-day conference on water rights in Montevideo, Uruguay, from Oct. 28-31. In 2004, Uruguay became the first country to enshrine the right to safe water through a citizen-led constitutional amendment banning privitization and guaranteeing piped water and sanitation to all citizens. A similar effort kicks off this month in Mexico.

Activists like Kellett see a direct relationship between the commodification of water on the international level and the rise in bottled water among individual consumers. "Worldwide, people spent $100 billion on bottled water last year," says Kallett. "That's three times more than the amount that we'd need to spend to meet the United Nation's goals of giving everyone access to water by 2015." In the meantime, the activists with CAI will continue to bring their Tap Water Challenges on the road in an effort to convert people one by one. Purity, they contend, is only a twist of the faucet away.

We were having too much fun …

It used to be when people thought of crime, images of pick-pockets and purse-snatchers raced through their minds. This, however, is no longer the case. Along the way, the criminal intelligensia incorporated businesses into their criminal networks, thus, legitimizing the illegitimate. In a new book entitled “Identity Theft, Inc.” authors Glenn Hastings and Richard Marcus tell the story of how they were able to steal thousands of people’s identities, grossing $100 million dollars for their troubles.

They were able to do all of the following:

• Rob a bank without ever stepping foot inside.


• Acquiring one million frequent-flyer miles, without taking a single flight.


• Acquiring someone else’s identity documents for as little as $4.25.


• Level the odds at any number of casinos, from which they stole millions of dollars.

Telling the tale in step-by-step detail, the authors trace their humble beginnings as low-level thieves, continuing onward to a career as a fence of stolen goods; such as designer clothing, authentic Navajo rugs, jewelry that would make any wealthy person proud, and electronic goods – such as cameras, VCR’s, and big-screen projection television sets.

Early on, Glenn hits the road, teaming up with a character known only as ‘Bones,’ where they ran various scams on overbooked airline flights. It was then where Glenn and Bones begin to compete with one another, to see who was the most proficient and best-organized thief. It was when they also began to turn false identities into big bucks, by stealing from credit-cards obtained in the names of these victims.

The most unique aspect of this book is in Glenn explaining how they got away with these crimes, thus making for some extremely compelling reading. For example, when Glenn and Bones went to the extreme of stealing from Federal Reserve member banks, they were then stealing from higher-level thieves, as what these banks do must be considered loan-sharking, charging unreasonable interest-rates on loans and home mortgages. For example, a 7% loan comes out to approximately 140%, once interest-compounding is added to the equation. As I read the book, I was captivated by the level of detail that was provided – the book being a veritable “how-to” blueprint for those who aspire to a life of crime. However, I must warn the reader of this review that security systems put in place after 9/11 would forever change the way that large corporations do business.

This book is for those whose identities had been stolen at some time in the past, for those who want to protect their identity from being stolen in the present, and for those who want to protect it from theft at some time in the future. In fact, the books’ last chapter presents thirteen pages of no-nonsense advice for the reader to protect their own identity from being stolen at any time at all. And, having stolen tens of millions of dollars, these men are truly experts in the field.

Today, those businesses that were once ripe for the picking, have changed and upgraded their own internal security. Phone a bank, and they will ask for much more than your mother’s maiden name. A recent phone call to the bank at which I do business had me being asked for my full name, current address, the last four digits of my social security number, AND my full bank account number. It would take something much more substantial than a Who’s Who book to locate all of that data.

As with all crime, the tales recounted in this book show a definite progression. Glenn and his various criminal partners start out small; in this case, it was free airline tickets. Before computers became a part of most of our daily lives, stealing free round-trip airline tickets was possible. Today? Forget it! Every ticket sold, every frequent-flyer mile flown, every single overbooked flight, and every passenger is logged into a computer. It would take an extremely knowledgeable computer hacker to penetrate and defeat these secure computer networks.

To be considered legitimate, a legitimate ‘front’ must be established. This provided a believable history for the person whose identity had been stolen, and it allowed and gave Glenn and his partners a chance to hide in plain sight. This was accomplished with what Glenn referred to as scam houses:

“We didn’t need an ostentatious address, just a respectable one. Many powerful businessmen lived in middle or upper middle class neighborhoods. The key factors regarding the address were its’ location, as far as accessibility was concerned, and the security of the operation it provided.”

These ‘scam houses’ provided the addresses necessary to provide complete anonymity to those carrying out the scam. Additionally, it provided an address at which the stolen credit cards would be sent. Such places had to give the appearance of someone living there. This was accomplished by furnishing the place with the bare minimum of furniture, and the telephone was dealt with through the use of a voice mail system and answering service, when it was required. Of course, the only calls were from banks, credit card companies, and others who became ensnared in Glenn and Bones’ various scams.

All criminals face the ever-present danger of being caught, and Glenn and his partners were no different in this respect. As the scams moved to Cleveland, Glenn tells the story of selling stolen television sets, for which a very surprising customer shows up! As the man’s wife asks all matter of questions, he goes out to his truck to get the money to complete the sale. As he did so, his wife said the following to Glenn:

“Oh, my husband will just love this TV. I’m so happy for him. He works so hard during the day. Coming home to watch his baseball games on that set will just light up his life.”

“What type of work does he do?” Glenn asked.

“Oh, you didn’t know? He’s the Chief of the Shaker Heights Police Department. Chief Barnes.” she said, matter of factly.


CONCLUSION:

While it may at first seem that this book is about crime, ultimately, it is a story of redemption and salvation. It is the path of truth and honesty that is ultimately taken by both Glenn Hastings and Richard Marcus. Glenn emphatically states that “You will NEVER win anything online, unless you are playing poker.” I have gotten hundreds of those “You have just won the Uganda lottery!” e-mails, as you are likely to have as well. I have also gotten many of those “Help the exiled Prince of Namibia get his billions out of the country” e-mails, just as you have too. The “exiled Prince” e-mails promise a hefty pay-out for your efforts.

Such cyber-scams prey upon two things; greed, and the lure of easy money for little or no effort. First of all, there has never been a lottery or contest that pays-out without someone buying a ticket first. Every single one of these types of e-mails are scams, plain and simple. Secondly, the world’s wealthiest people have never once used a member of the so-called middle-class to move their money around on their behalf. Even if they did use a middle-class citizen to do this, they would never use someone they do not know!



Interview with Glenn Hastings and Richard Marcus

Are either of you worried that readers of this book might actually TRY some of what you describe in the books‚ pages?

Glenn – “When you write a book of this nature, it is always possible that some readers will try to do what they read. However, to counter that, I have also made readers aware how to prevent becoming a victim of ID theft. I hope that people take this book more as entertainment than anything else. Overall, in spite of those who look to try some tricks of the trade, I think the book will have done more good than harm.”


What has been the total take of income, of all your scams combined, and during what years did this take place?

Glenn – “That's a tough one, but the gross was close to a $100 million. It cost almost half that to set it up and run the business, so we actually cleared around $50 million. The entire scam ran from 1990 to 2004, during which there were always overlapping scams running simultaneously.”


What are some of the differences in the way that identity theft is carried out today, versus what it used to be, in the 1960’s to the 1980’s?

Glenn – “Today it's all Internet and "outsourced." There are numerous way to steal IDs. First, if you're industrious and know your way around the Internet, you can use various techniques to dupe people with e-mails into giving you their personal information. Methods called phishing and pharming will do the trick. There are so many millions of people out there in cyberspace, all potential victims. You only need to hit on a tiny percentage of them to build vast resources of stolen identities. The second way is just to go online, search out certain websites that actually deal in stolen identities, supplying everything you need to marry the stolen ID to credit cards. There's a whole ID theft market out there, much of it based in Russia and Eastern Europe. All the particulars about this are in the book.”


How old were you when you first became interested in a life of crime? How did the idea come into your head, and what were your some of your earliest crimes?

Glenn – “Probably not yet born! Well, I started ripping off airlines while in college, and when I saw how easy that was, I got interested in crime. What I did was take advantage of the airlines' practice of overbooking flights to get bumped off flights for which I had a reservation. Then I'd get a free round-trip ticket anywhere the airline flew for compensation. Back in the 70s, you could actually make reservations without paying for tickets or guaranteeing it with a credit card, so I'd spend Christmas and Easter breaks in Florida's airports filling my pockets with ‘bump’ vouchers, which I sold in the newspapers for cash.

That put the idea in my head for my next big scam while I worked as a motel desk clerk in New Mexico. Using credit card numbers belonging to guests at the motel, I purchased expensive Navajo rugs from museum gift shops over the telephone and then had a cohort pick them up when the cards were approved. I sold the rugs right back to different museums for cash. This scam actually let to my discovery of identity theft.”


What specifically changed on 9/11 that now prevents you from stealing people’s identities?

Glenn – “Nothing has really changed since 9/11 as far as stealing IDs goes. The changes are in using them. Someone traveling under stolen ID is much more likely to get caught at an airport or wiring money internationally using stolen ID. But, Internet scammers still ply their trade even easier than they did before 9/11, that because there are so many more users than there were back then. The websites that market stolen ID continue to thrive. The only way that ID theft can be curbed on the Internet is for the hundreds of millions of potential victims to heed the advice found not only in my book, but, from other sources distributing sound advice.”


Who actually wrote this book? Was it ghost-written?

Glenn – “Richard Marcus wrote the book totally from my recollections, and some of his. He was heavily involved in my ID theft scams against the world's casinos.”


On pg. 164, a reference is made to “this thing of ours,” which is a reference to La Cosa Nostra. Was this used to associate the two of you with the Mafia? Were the crimes in the book Mafia crimes?

Glenn – “No, ‘this thing of ours’ was just an expression Richard must have chosen for the writing. Although we dealt with organized crime gangs, especially Mexican drug cartels when we sold them exotic cards rented off credit cards in stolen names, we were not at all associated with any Mafia.”


Overall, how much business did you do with Alberto, your Ralph Lauren connection in Mexico?

Glenn – “Around $4 million.”


At any time during your crimes, did you ever feel remorse toward your victims? Not the banks, of course, but the people who you victimized?

Glenn – “Not until I met my wife Nicole and started living normally, and decided to get out of the business. Then I truly began to regret hurting people's financial lives. This was one of the reasons I wrote the book. In fact, a percentage of the money received from sales will go into a fund to help victims of identity theft.”


My own research shows that the Federal Reserve Banks is itself a true criminal enterprise. For example, with their home mortgages, they charge people for three houses, just for the privilege of living in one. What were your feelings about these banks? Did you feel bad about ripping-off THE BANKS?

Glenn – “I have NEVER felt bad about ripping off a bank, casino or airline. All they do, is rip off everyone who deals with them. Show me an honest bank, casino, and airline, and I'll show you an honest identity thief!”


In your book, you talk about these “scam houses” which were created to give your fictitious identities a background. Did anyone living near you; a neighbor, a mailman, a delivery person – ever come close to blowing your cover?

Glenn – “We took all precautions to keep neighbors in the dark, including keeping cars in closed garages when we there, which was often at night, constantly picking up mail and newspapers left at the house to avoid having neighbors know we were seldom there, and of course only waving upon seeing them. We never engaged in conversation because doing so always risked getting caught in a lie that might breed suspicion.

It was only the mailman who once almost caught on to us. I had made the stupid mistake of having too many phony IDs sent to the same scam house. Once, the mailman delivered driver's licenses belonging to three different people to the same scam house. Only problem was that all three had my photograph and he saw them when he came back with a piece of mail he'd forgotten to give me. I had opened the letters, removed the licenses and left them on a stool in the foyer. I wasn't positive he'd noticed the discrepancies, but you can bet we dumped that scam house!”


Some criminals, when they go ‘straight,’ begin a consulting business, where they are paid to teach corporations how to avoid people just like THEM, and things that they have themselves done. Have either of you done this, or thought about doing this?

Glenn – “Richard has done that in the casino business, but I am happily distanced from all this, my contribution to stopping ID theft being made through the book. I have no interest in protecting the corporations, only innocent people whose identities are stolen.”


As soon as any transaction of $10,000 occurs, the IRS is contacted immediately. How were you able to buy such expensive watches, cars, etc. and avoid drawing attention to yourselves?

Glenn – “Simple. Whenever the IRS received cash transaction reports, they were about people whose IDs were stolen and whose credit we'd already maxed out. By the time they investigated, we were long gone from that particular identity. We never had to worry about the paper trails we left behind because we just slipped into the new ID’s.”


Describe when and under which circumstances that you decided to go straight?

Glenn – “It was in early 2004, after a near disaster in a French airport smuggling $5 million cash into the country, and the growing relationship with my wife. The close shave alone might have done it even if I'd never met Nicole.”


What are the both of you doing today?

Glenn – “I live a normal life with my family. I have two children who know nothing of my past life. Richard Marcus writes books about crime and serves as a consultant to the casino industry.”


The following are questions to Richard Marcus, which are about the casino gambling aspect of the scams he worked with Glenn Hastings …


What is the level of money that a person gambles where that person receives RFB privileges, along with the VIP treatment (limo, etc.)?

Richard – “Usually an average bet of $100 per hand for four hours a day will get you RFB for that day.”


In your experience, what is the true level of winnings that a person could expect gambling at any casino? Is it ALWAYS a complete loss? They must allow some winnings, or else no one would come back, correct?

Richard – “No individual can expect to win on any given day, but a large percentage of them actually do. It is always a complete loss for the gambling public as a whole, however. Casinos operate on a statistical percentage of total bets made, usually around 2%. Therefore, if during one day the casino takes $1 million worth of bets, it wins $20,000, etc. A casino will never have a losing day except in extraordinary circumstances, like a scam!”


What GAME has the best odds in a casino? How about the worst?

Richard – “Best odds are the bank side in baccarat, worst are the bust-out games like the Big 6 wheel. Double-zero roulette is also bad.”


What was your favorite GAME in the casinos?

Richard – “Clearly baccarat, as you might imagine because I helped Glenn fleece casinos for millions with it!”


What was your biggest take in a single sitting? How about your biggest loss? You had to lose sometimes, as to not arouse suspicion, correct?

Richard – “There were no “sittings” in my business. It was all about “moves,” the biggest of which was successfully past-posting a $1,000 chip straight up on a number at roulette (late bet), for which I was paid $35,000. Some days we my cheating team made multiple moves, the most profitable of which was around $100,000. Read my books DIRTY POKER and AMERICAN ROULETTE! It's all there.”


Certainly, you must be banned from casinos, right? Or, were you able to prevent this?

Richard – “I am not barred anywhere because I've never been caught, something I have in common with you know who ... Glenn.”


Could you describe all of the surveillance equipment that is used in these casinos, and how was it used against you (If in fact, it was, that is)?

Richard – “It's all video cameras and tape. There cameras are high-tech and state of the art, can read a date off a dime and all that crap, but I developed certain moves that even beat their cameras, believe it or not. Again, go to my books.”


Over your entire casino ‘career,’ how much money did you end up making?

Richard – “$20 million give or take, but lived high and blew more than half of it.”


How did you meet Glenn Hastings?

Richard – “As the coincidences in life would have it, we both had the same girlfriend at Berkley back in the 70’s (he was the student) but neither of us knew it until she dumped both of us at the same time. It was a blessing in disguise as we became friends and forgot about her.”


Besides what is described in your ‘Poker’ and ‘Roulette’ books and the ‘ID Theft’ book, have you engaged in any other criminal activity that was related to both of these subject areas?

Richard – “Tax evasion ... obviously! Glad you liked the book.”

EPIC AND HISTORIC STORM IN BUFFALO, NEW YORK USA

It came out of nowhere ...

Buffalo, New York is well-known for its’ quirky and sometimes severe and life-threatening weather, this is largely due to a storm known as the Blizzard of ‘77, which paralyzed the Western New York region in January of that year. For one solid week, we were the butt of Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show monologues, where he lambasted Buffalo for its killer storm, a lake-effect Noreaster that blasted the landscape with snow. That storm halted work on our family farm — where my parents and brother were scattered — I personally spend five long boring days in a volunteer fire hall — not making it home in time.

On the overnight of October 12-13, 2006, Buffalo was once more subjected to a region-paralyzing storm, with 24+ inches falling, of the heaviest snow I have ever seen in any storm. This storm had knocked out the power for more than 140,000 families in the WNY area, were without power for up to six days (with still about 15% to restore, six days out) and a seventh night for a small percentage of communities which are expected to be completed by Friday or Saturday.

I had just so happened to have had the NOAA live-feed open in a window on my desktop, and this storm materialized in a very short time, and that was unusual in itself. It stated to snow, and as the evening wore on, the power went out for my home at about 7:45pm on October 12th. It didn’t come back on until 6:30pm yesterday, October 18th. That is six days of candlelight and a roaring fire in the fireplace. Even though they are saying that 24 inches fell, in my own backyard, there was 30+ inches, because of blowing snow.

Just like the historic storm of twenty-nine years ago, this snowstorm was of epic, historic proportions.

In all this reporters forty-four years, I simply cannot remember a storm of this magnitude this early in the winter season. This was two full weeks BEFORE Halloween, for God’s sake! When I awoke to a freezing house on Friday October 13th, I took a look out the window. I took a series of digital photos, which are immediately below, throughout the story. The destruction was simply unbelievable! Every tree on my property is completely destroyed!

Looking at the desolation on my own street, I wondered if this was one of those HAARP storms, created by the military? Richard Hoagland opined that Katrina had several geometric attributes, and I concur, after viewing his data.

This was more than just a snowstorm. The weather records for our area began to be kept in 1871, and in all those years until last week, we had NEVER experienced anything quite like this in the middle of October. This storm had destroyed many of the trees in our area, including every single tree on my property! Could THIS have been the October Surprise that the Bush regime had been threatening for this month, prior to the mid-term election in a couple of weeks?

The damage to the WNY area was widespread. Entire communities lost their electricity, and trees snapped like twigs under the heavy snowfall. More than 10,000 utility repairmen from outside our area had come to assist in getting the lights back on. This reporter sure appreciated having a fireplace in the house, otherwise, I may have contended with burst water pipes, and the six days and nights spent without power would have been brutal, as I sat shivering in the darkness.

Just as soon as the storm moved in, the temperature rose high enough as to allow a quick thaw. Because this reporters home sits atop an embankment, there was no basement flooding whatsoever. To assist in help to the area, New York Governor George Pataki, the Erie County Executive Joel Giambra, and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown declared the area a disaster. FEMA brought in personnel and set up a command center at the Eastern Hills Mall, a few miles from the home of this reporter.

A small Cessna airplane crashed into a skyscraper in New York City earlier today, it was reported in the national controlled mass news media.

This is very strange, as there are systems in place which are supposed to prevent all aircraft from flying anywhere near high-rise buildings in New York City, especially AFTER 9/11. It also shows that high-rise buildings DO NOT COLLAPSE after being hit by plane crashes they were built to withstand.

The pilot was inexperienced, true enough.

But, what about the people in the Air Traffic Control tower of the airport nearest the crash scene?!

With the mid-term election less than a month away, the Republicans are in serious trouble, as high-level strategists are now telling Bush to stay off the campaign trail, as he would only harm the candidates' chances of winning. This is a karmic slap in the face to the man whom many are calling the "all-time worst President" of the United States' 230 year history.

His current approval is on-par with that of Richard Nixon at the height of the Watergate scandal, with many of Bush Jr's staff members then working in the Nixon White House. I, for one, have no sympathy for this piece of garbage, as the damage he and his Satanic minions have inflicted upon this nation may prove to be fatal to the Republic.

A New York Times / CBS News poll released yesterday shows that 83% of those polled believe that he is lying about Iraq, and this number shows erosion of his own voter-base, and this is likely to be the reason why members of the Republican National Committee and his own White House staff have been telling him NOT to go out and campaign for ANY candidate, as all he is likely to accomplish, is enrage the voters further, and guarantee the loss of the Congressional seats for which he campaigns.

White House sources, speaking on grounds of anonymity, have said that Bush Jr. is boiling over with anger about his present situation, hurling foul language at anyone who dares to bring up the subject of his approval. These same sources state that he is likewise angry because history promises to be unkind to both him and his legacy. Furthermore, the relationship between Bush 41 and Bush 43 is at an all-time low, with rumors of Bush 41 refusing to speak with his progeny.

The Foley scandal is likely to deliver both the House and Senate to the Democrats, and the respondants to the new York Times / CBS News poll saying that most politicans consider themselves to be above the law, and they simply do not follow the same rule of law as all Americans are expected to do.

Of the poll respondants, only 3% believe that Bush is doing a good job in Iraq, and 66% said they disapprove of the way he is handling the situation. A startling 83% felt that he was lying about Iraq, and how things were going there, as the USA faces the possibility of a reinstatement of the military draft, a move that is seen by many to be political suicide, in the staunch pro-peace environment the nation is currently engulfed within.

Bush Jr.'s approval has slipped to 34%, which is comparable to what Nixon faced at the height of the Watergate scandal, which saw him resigning in disgrace. Even among his Republican base, his approval has dropped 21% since November 2004.

These numbers may be the reason why Bush Jr. has been lashing out at his staff, as he appears to grow more and more despondent as his Presidency winds down, with only 741 days to go before he leaves office, preferably in handcuffs.

Only 19% Back Bush's Iraq Strategy

The War on Terror is torturing liberties and rights here at home in the USA, which means the terrorists are thus-far winning the WAR ON TERROR, because they have changed AmeriKa ... for the WORSE!

In the news report below (which is really a press release published verbatim), the writer tries to tap into that subconscious 'program' that AmeriKa is evenly split 50%-50% -- which is what we frequently hear in the reporting of approval and opinion polling. The reporting of pre-election polls also taps into this subconscious programming, extracting the compliance of a sickening majority of the minds of the people of this country, whose only faults are apathy and the inability to extract a lie from statements they hear.

They say we are DIVIDED, which calls into mind that 50%-50% we are all supposed to be thinking of this. But, the number they show is 19% support both the war and the current approach. That means 81% DO NOT agree with either of these two things.

Now, the last time I checked, 81%-19% was nowhere near 50%-50% !!

Adults in the United States are divided over the state of affairs in Iraq, according to a poll by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News. 19 percent of respondents support both the war and the current approach, while 33 percent are in favour of the coalition effort, but want a different strategy in place.

Conversely, 20 percent of respondents are opposed to the war but could change their minds if a new approach is developed, while 25 percent reject the conflict regardless of the strategy.

The coalition effort against Saddam Hussein’s regime was launched in March 2003. At least 2,711 American soldiers have died during the military operation, and more than 20,400 troops have been wounded in action.

In December 2005, Iraqi voters renewed their National Assembly. In May, Shiite United Iraqi Alliance member Nouri al-Maliki officially took over as prime minister.

On Sept. 24, portions of the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) were released by several media outlets in the U.S. The document says the war in Iraq has "increased the terrorist threat" against the United States.

Yesterday, U.S. president George W. Bush discussed the situation, saying, "Some have selectively quoted from this document to make the case that by fighting the terrorists, by fighting them in Iraq we are making our people less secure here at home. This argument buys into the enemy’s propaganda that the terrorists attack us because we’re provoking them."
