AMERIKA IS NUMBER ONE IN INTERNET FRAUD

As I state in my multi-part report on SANITIZING THE INTERNET --- it will be the unchecked Internet crime and fraud that will provide one of the excuses for POWERS THAT BE, Inc. (a globalist corporation) to clamp down on the Internet. America harbors the greatest amount of cyber-criminals per dollar amount, of any nation on Earth.

This has been allowed to happen, because it gives the global elite an excuse to clamp down on the Internet, problem-reaction-solution style.

When counted in dollars lost per theft, the most profitable cybercrime is something called the Nigerian letter scam. This is where an e-mail is sent to someone asking for their help. Apparently, as the "letter" states, a most-important person in Nigeria has died. The bank account is now frozen, and YOU THE READER will profit handsomely if you will "assist" in the withdrawal of this money. The per-sucker take in this scam is $5,000. This scam has proven immensely profitable for the cyber-criminals, as it has grown 67% from 2004 to 2005.

Two other big-time scams are the non-delivery of auction goods vis-a-vis eBay, and investment scams, which have grown by 93% and 220%, respectively. eBay has had its' hands full trying to keep up with this type of swindle, and they prosecute to the fullest, once someone is caught. The investment scams have been around for many decades, and they prey upon someone's greed for a fast buck.

If something SOUNDS too good to be true . . . you know the rest, correct?

Here are the figures related to all the fastest-growing online scams, their average take per crime, and the percentage of growth from 2004 to 2005:

• Nigerian Letter fraud = $5,000 avg. take (+67% growth)


• Check scams = $3,800 (+6% growth)


• Confidence scams = $2,025 (+103% growth)


• Investment scams = $2,000 (+220% growth)


• Non-Delivery of Goods = $410 (+55% growth)


• Auction scams = $385 (+93% growth)


• Credit Card scams = $240 (0% growth)

The USA contributes to 71% of all Internet crimes, which has gone from $10 million in 2001 to $185 million in 2005.

So, keep your guard up, and BEWARE of anything that sounds TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

Because it always is TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

Warn your naive older relatives who may be online, as they are the ones ripe for the picking.

I will be joining Cindy by fasting beginning on July 4, 2006, and I will continue until the end of July.

Dear Friends,

GSFP and Code Pink are sponsoring a hunger strike for peace which begins July 04, called Troops Home Fast. Some of us like Dick Gregory and Diane Wilson will be fasting until the troops come home from Iraq, and some, like me, will be fasting for a specified time. My fast will begin on 7/04 and end on the last day of Camp Casey: 09/02.

We are announcing the fast from Washington, DC on 07/04 and having our last supper on 07/03 in Lafayette Park.

As recent viewership trends indicate, TV's number one shows through the years have seen a dwindling share of viewers.

All we need to do is look at some of the most popular number one television shows from the past forty-five years, and we see an ever dwindling share of viewership tuning in to see those shows.

• Gunsmoke (1961) = 61 million viewers


• Bonanza (1966) = 49 million viewers


• Marcus Welby, MD (1971) = 51 million viewers


• All In The Family (1976) = 50 million viewers


• Dallas (1981) = 51 million viewers


• The Cosby Show (1986) = 50 million viewers


• Cheers (1991) = 33 million viewers

During these forty-five years, we have seen a full 50% drop in viewers of that season's number one show. It also hasn't helped matters, that as we get further down the list, the shows had become more inane and more moronic, reflecting the dumbing-down of AmeriKa.

No wonder people these days are shutting off Lucifer's Dream Box, as the late, great comedian and polictical philosopher Bill Hicks called it.

TEACHER'S HOUSE RANSACKED, ATTEMPTS ON LIFE FOR 9/11 DATA

A story appeared several months which caught the eye of readers, a story about a high school teacher suspended for saying 9/11 was inside job during a casual conversation in the lunch room with another teacher.

The comments and subsequent seven day suspension of Columbus High School teacher Thomas Mustric caught the attention of America, as people on both side of the 9/11 issue either called him a hero or called him a chump.

But behind Mustric's freedom of speech, lunch room school story lies much, much more. Behind his comments made about 9/11 is a tale of intrigue, assassination attempts and civil rights violations so egregious it makes the hair on even the most apathetic of Americans stand on edge.

In a story like Mustric's the tendency is to cry "foul" for a free speech infringement, say goodbye to Mustric and wish him well in his future teaching endeavors. But like most stories, if one digs deep enough and asks the right questions, the unexpected comes forward like finding gold in a dried up old Texas creek.

And that's just what happened last week as Mustric went through the motions, telling a radio audience about his unfortunate incident about the 9/11 comments that led to a short suspension and the eventual reinstatement of his substitute teaching position.

But last week during the final moments of a one hour interview on Greg Szymanski's Investigative Journal radio program, Mustric mentioned in passing how his phone had been tapped and his house had been broken into on numerous occasions, as he suspected Black Ops government agents also removed his computer and research files.

It turns out Mustric, a teacher by day and an activist by night, has been on the hit list of the fascist American regime for quite some time, as the "Clark Kent" type super-activist disguised as a teacher has had at least six assassination attempts made on his life.

And as it turns out, Mustric is the perfect example of "you can't tell a book by looking at the cover" as the soft spoken social studies teacher with the dark rimmed glasses has been meeting undercover with military whistleblowers about sensitive 9/11 data showing government complicity and collecting information about illegal weapons transfers to Bosnia by former President Clinton, including illegal arms sales to Israel and Iraq.

In fact, in his capacity as running a Middle East peace group, Mustric turns out to be a silent but deadly investigator and top notch super-sleuth. And according to Mustric authorities were so interested in his activities, they pilfered two extremely hot and dangerous files from his Ohio apartment.

"Two files were removed from my home: 1) my material in "file" on his name (the military whistleblower from Wright Patterson Air Force Base) and 2) the name of the Arab Computer company from Cincinnati, Ohio, allowed to "down load all the intelligence on all of our airports" all prior to 911," said Mustric. "Other files removed included my talks with Department of State regarding a weapon transfer sale approved by Clinton for Bosnia.

"In 1995 Sadam Hussein ordered 2000 copies of special assassination rifles @ $15,000 per copy plus alleged ballistics, with long range capability. I went to Washington D.C. to the White House but did not have clearances, so SS met with me at my location in DC early in the AM. That late morning I went to DOS, meeting with about seven notables for about seven minutes, and heard seven words three time, "You know what you have to do" and all quickly left the briefing Iraq desk room.

"I returned to CMH to next meet with former Prime Minister Peres for 45 minutes during his book signing. An Iraq purchase of such capable weapons was not in the best interest for Israel, my Middle East peace project, and for Clinton's first visit to Israel that next weekend.

"Anyway, I though it important to protect the president, divert the weapons---and all I knew is that they were ordered from Remington and shipped. Israel may have spent some 63 million is a series of events. The weapons were disassembled with extreme prejudice, so was the Iraqi General who was to divert the weapons from Bosnia."

In order to tell a more complete story about Mustric's activities in his private quest for peace and justice in what looks like a David vs. Goliath scenario, he provided the Arctic Beacon a detailed account of his home break-ins, attempts on his life and other assorted encounters with authorities.

Upon Mustric's request, the high level names involved in his harassment and incriminating details have been left out for his safety and protection. However, he did say:

"Regarding the many illegal entries into my home. I met with my Congressional representative about my "illegal entries" problems regarding matters of national security concerns on 9/11.

"Depending on how you count, I have experienced five or six attempted assassinations by actors under color of law. Regarding my 911 file materials removed from my home: I presented the information to my political science former grad advisor professor at the Ohio State University. I told him of my meeting with a commander at Wright Patterson Air Force Base outside the Columbus Mayor's office. He was upset that the Mayor would not see him, nor would the Ohio governor Taft, or the Mayor of Dayton.

The earlier attempts on my life go back to the late 60s at the Ohio State University, where in another remarkable story, I was told by a "deep throat" that the "FBI was going to try to drive me insane." This was over my being in a six year program to study world views. In a meeting with Art and Science Dean Oats, he complained that my plan of study to "write a book" being a six year program was outside the change of Selective Service to complete your major line of study in 4 years. After deep throat met with me, I made my behavior very predictable to see how FBI would take the advantage, since I was also pre-med going into psychiatry. However, because the "intelligence" community also studied my psychology experiments results, my sample theme, and my autobiography, I was recruited to do my service in 3 days to cooperate on a psychological profile study of President Papa Doc---granted unless we declared war. I was next invited to help sophisticate "mafia wars" in NYC, using "psychological enriched environment programs, PEEPS," which I turned down. You have to understand PEEP to understand Able Danger and 911."

The jailing of freedom fighter Walter Burien for 45 days and his subsequent plea bargain agreement to accept a felony conviction without more jail time is another example of America's fascist system jailing innocent Americans.

Burien, another in the long list of America's political prisoners being nailed to the wall, has been a major thorn in the side of the "powers that be," being one of the first who decided to take on Washington where it hurts most -- in their corrupt pocket books.

More than 10 years ago, Burien, a successful business who had an office in the World Trade Center during the late 70s and early 80s, became fed up with the fleecing of America and decided to use his business sense to do something good for the people.

And what he uncovered was the one of the largest scams being played on Americans, as politicians failed to report trillions in assets under Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR).

These reports, common in the corporate environment, have been done away with by crafty lawyers and politicians who have rewritten the laws of ethical business in order to hide money and mislead the American public about the wealth of their country, being used primarily to benefit a few crooked politicians and business men and not the majority of people.

"You now know the primary reason why Gorbechev went democratic, more money - more control! We showed him the blueprint for true communism. Russia from the past, the state openly owned everything. In the USA the state truly owns everything, but through walls of well masked corporate veils created over the decades," said Burien this week on Greg Szymanski's radio show, The Investigative Journal.

"The US Government now has more control over and wealth amassed from the people then the old Russia ever thought was possible or ever dreamed about our freedom has been lost, we need to get it back without delay."

And for Burien's patriotic stance to alert Americans about the failure of politicians at all levels to make public CAFRs, he has been harassed since 1998 when he first tried to institute a plan in Phoenix to return the financial system back to the people.

Although a complicated program which can be explained on his web site at www.CARF1.com, his original financial backer was jailed for 30 on bogus charges on order to keep the lid on the CAFR scam from the people.

Since then authorities have tried to marginalize Burien by getting to him through child protective services that according to Burien has illegally taken his children. Burien is now awaiting sentencing, as he recounts the sad story of how his children were taken:

On the morning of 11/23/05 I became aware of the fact that his son was to be abducted from school under false pretense, so to prevent this abduction of my son, I checked him out of school early and was going to return with my son to Arizona at that time.

I left the school with John in his 30 ft 1978 Southwind Motor Home. I became aware that the school had an East Brunswick Police officer standing by to assist in the abduction of John. I left the school and a Police Officer Fitzpatric pulled behind my Motor Home and attempted to stop the vehicle to facilitate the abduction of John. I was aware of the intent of this Officer based on what was said by a school official when I left with his son and knew that when he stopped, my son would be abducted.

In a highly charged state of mind, and under extreme duress, I did not stop right away but drove for approximately ten minutes failing to yield to Officer Fitzpatrick and several other Police vehicles that joined in the assist to stop my Motor Home.

I then finally stopped and my son was abducted, my Motor Home trashed, and I was arrested and charged with second degree alluding and having hollow point bullets with my stored Arizona registered firearm that was in storage within my Motor Home. I asked an Officer to secure his firearm before the vehicle was towed so that it would not be stolen from the impound lot where his MH was being brought to. Additionally I was issued 17 traffic tickets creatively written running the gambit from reckless driving, failure to yield, and driving on the sidewalk, etc.

Bail was set at $150,000 and I spent the next 45 days in the Middlesex County Jail until a long-term friend from California arranged for a bail reduction to $50,000 with $5,000 paid to an attorney by the name of Marco Laracca.

From January 8th 2006 until the current date (five and a half months), I waited in his Motor Home parked in a parking lot for disposition of these charges. I attempted to plead not guilty on several occasions but was threatened and intimidated not to do so.

My court motions filed or written requests for new or missing discovery were on every occasion ignored. My requests for correction of the official record were also ignored.

Attorney Antonio J. Toto insisted I take a plea bargain of pleading guilty to third degree alluding, where all traffic tickets would be dropped, no further jail time, probation for three to five years, fines of several hundred dollars, mandatory DNA testing and loss of my firearm.

In the alternative, if I plead not guilty, and was found guilty at trial, I was being threatened with five to ten years in the state penitentiary, thousands of dollars in fines, loosing his driving license and additional fines for the 17 traffic tickets, being held back from trial for several more months for living in my Motor Home in a NJ parking lot.

My cash flow over the last several months was virtually non-existent, excluding some help he was getting from a soybean farmer from Ohio and a woman in KC..

On July 15th 2006, I will meet with a probation officer for interview and then that probation officer will make a recommendation to Judge Dennis V. Nieves per sentencing.

Well, isn't abduction of your children under false pretense by local politicians grand in the state of New Jersey? Every time I tried to mention one word per the abduction of my child while I was at one of their court hearings I was threatened by the judge to not speak, of which was enforced by several deputy sheriffs standing close by.

Besides going to Burien's web site to understand all about CAFRs, he also wrote an open letter to Al Gore in October 2004, explaining the financial fraud going on America. The following is the important parts of Burien's letter reprinted:

"Myself being a strong critic of government's nondisclosure, when I looked at and reviewed financenet.gov in 1998, it broke all the rules in the behalf of the people. It gave a listing of local government CAFRs (Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports), government's Annual Financial Report that showed "Gross" income as well as total "Investments." [Trillions in composite totals] It listed the original transmittal letters from GFOA (Government Financial Officers Association) a private group originally located in Chicago, Illinois who started the CAFR accounting structure in 1946.

"In 1979 at GFOA's request they had the Feds mandate to the few local governments who were not in compliance with producing a CAFR to do so at that time if they wished to continue receiving Federal funding. That was Transmittal Letter #1 issued in 1979 by what has now become GASB Government Accounting Standards Board (a Federal Agency) Transmittal Letter #1 and the correspondences that led up to it were there on Financenet.gov to be viewed.

"What was being hand spoon feed to the public across the country up until that point were Selectively created budget reports which excluded "substantial" portions of the gross income and in almost all cases did not list the investment / future funding accounts as was shown in the CAFRs.

"CAFRs when digested and gross income is totaled showed in most cases that government had evolved into a corporate for profit business in which as of the year 2000 only 1/3rd of governments "Gross" income came from Tax income. Budget reports mislead the public into believing government's primary income was tax income, it was not. Tax income was only 1/3rd of the gross as shown in the CAFR once digested.

"In many a case after careful review of a CAFR, it was shown that government in many a case was indirectly funding their own debt with the use of their own investment funds. A debt as would be shown on the selectively created budget reports and that the public was being tagged to repay.

"Most people from the private sector would think that the majority of that ever-growing debt of their local government for bond issuance's, insurance coverage, etc., or even the mortgage on their own house was being funded by the private sector.

"Well, come the year 2000, it was not. Government enterprise investment groups and government Pension operations were the primary investors in that debt, and did so using the government's own investment funds. The public was being locked into repayment of the debt and by doing so accomplished a return (Non-Tax income) for the government. If a private corporation did the same to its shareholders without full and open disclosure of doing so, the directors involved would be sitting in the federal pen after a multiple count SEC indictment.

"But then due to the money involved, government starting in 1946 evolved into what gives a new definition to the expression of letting the "Foxes guard the Hen house" and by definition of circumstance and reality of the current structure, has now given government the true title and has redefined the meaning of the words "Organized Crime." Or as the definition of RICO goes, "Extortion of money from the public through criminal enterprise."

JAKOBSHAVN GLACIER, Greenland - The Greenland ice sheet -- two miles thick and broad enough to blanket an area the size of Mexico -- shapes the world's weather, matched in influence only by Antarctica in the Southern Hemisphere. In its heart, snow that fell a quarter of a million years ago is preserved.

Should all of the ice sheet ever thaw, the meltwater could raise sea level 21 feet and swamp the world's coastal cities, home to a billion people. It would cause higher tides, generate more powerful storm surges and, by altering ocean currents, drastically disrupt the global climate.

Climate experts have started to worry that the icecap is disappearing in ways that computer models had not predicted.

By all accounts, the glaciers of Greenland are melting twice as fast as they were five years ago, even as the ice sheets of Antarctica also are shrinking, researchers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the University of Kansas reported in February.

Researchers have focused on a delicate ribbon -- the equilibrium line, which marks the fulcrum of frost and thaw in Greenland's seasonal balance. The zone rims the icecap like a drawstring. Summer melting, on average, offsets the annual accumulation of snow.

But across the icecap, the area of seasonal melting was broader last year than in 27 years of record-keeping, University of Colorado climate scientists reported. In early May, temperatures on the icecap some days were almost 20 degrees above normal, hovering just below freezing.

From cores of ancient Greenland ice extracted by the National Science Foundation, researchers have identified at least 20 sudden climate changes in the last 110,000 years, in which average temperatures fluctuated as much as 15 degrees in a single decade.

The increasingly erratic behavior of the Greenland ice has scientists wondering whether the climate, after thousands of years of relative stability, might again start oscillating.

For those assessing the effect of global warming, there may be no more perfect natural laboratory. Here, the theoretical effects seen in computerized climate models take tangible form.

University of Colorado climatologist Konrad Steffen set up Swiss Camp 155 miles north of the Arctic Circle in 1990 to study the weather along the equilibrium line. As a precaution, Steffen, 54, built the camp on a plywood platform to keep it afloat when the ice turns into summer slush and open lakes before refreezing in the fall.

NASA glaciologist Jay Zwally joined his colleagues there on May 8 in the regular spring migration of scientists to the arctic. He has been coming to Swiss Camp every year since 1994 and has been studying the polar regions since 1972, monitoring the polar ice through satellite sensors. Eventually, he realized he had to study the ice firsthand.

The ice sheet seemed such a stolid reservoir of cold that many experts had been confident of its taking centuries for higher temperatures to work their way thousands of feet down to the base of the icecap and undermine its stability.

By and large, computer models supported that view, predicting that as winter temperatures rose, more snow would fall across the dome of the icecap. Thus, by the seasonal bookkeeping of the ice sheet, Greenland would neatly balance its losses through new snow.

Indeed, Zwally and his colleagues in March released an analysis of data from two European satellites showing that the amount of water locked in the ice sheet had risen slightly from 1992 to 2002.

Then the ice sheet began to confound computer-generated predictions.

By 2005, Greenland was beginning to lose more ice volume than anyone had anticipated -- an annual loss of up to 52 cubic miles a year -- according to more recent satellite gravity measurements released by JPL. The volume of freshwater ice dumped into the Atlantic Ocean has almost tripled in a decade.

There was even a period of melting in December. "We have never seen that," Steffen said.

In an influential paper published in the journal Science, Zwally surmised that the ice sheets had accelerated in response to warmer temperatures, as summer meltwater lubricated the base of the ice sheet and allowed it to slide faster toward the sea.

In a way no one had detected, the warm water made its way through thousands of feet of ice to the bedrock -- in weeks, not decades or centuries.

University of Texas physicist Ginny Catania pulled an ice-penetrating radar in a search pattern around the camp, seeking evidence of any melt holes or drainage crevices that could so quickly channel the hot water of global warming deep into the ice.

To her surprise, she detected a maze of tunnels, natural pipes and cracks beneath the unblemished surface. "I have never seen anything like it, except in an area where people have been drilling bore holes," Catania said.

No one knows how much of the ice sheet is affected. In all, 12 major outlet glaciers drain the ice sheet the way rivers drain a watershed.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. population is on target to hit 300 million this fall and it's a good bet the milestone baby --- or immigrant --- will be Hispanic.

No one will know for sure because the date and time will be just an estimate.

But Latinos --- immigrants and those born in this country --- are driving the population growth, accounting for almost half the increase last year, more than any other ethnic or racial group.

White non-Hispanics, who make up about two-thirds of the population, accounted for less than one-fifth of the increase.

When the population reached 200 million in 1967, there was no accurate tally of U.S. Hispanics. The first effort to count Hispanics came in the 1970 census, and the results were dubious.

The Census Bureau counted about 9.6 million Latinos, a little less than 5 percent of the population, but the bureau acknowledged that figure was inflated.

In 1967, there were fewer than 10 million people in the U.S. who were born in other countries; that was not even one in 20.

Today, there are 36 million immigrants, about one in eight.

"We were much more of an insular society back then," said William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank.

As of early Sunday, there were 299,058,932 people in the United States, according to the Census Bureau's population clock. The estimate is based on annual numbers for births, deaths and immigration, averaged throughout the year.

The 300 millionth person in the U.S. will likely be born --- or cross the border --- in October, though bureau officials are wary of committing to a particular month because of the subjective nature of the clock.

THE GHOST TROOP MISSION

When Captain Eric May joined the U.S. Army in 1977 at the age of 17, he took an oath that included the following phrase:

"To defend the United States Constitution, from all enemies, both foreign and domestic."

Little did he know at the time, being a boy in a man's Army, that those thirteen words would come to define his life after he concluded his active service, in 1996. While these thirteen words haunted him, it wouldn't be until five years later that his mission became clear to him, both in concept and in deed. "I was a boy soldier," he said, from his home in the Houston area. "I hadn't even begun to shave, and here I was, holding a rifle."

Back in 1977, Captain Eric H. May had begun his military career as an enlisted soldier in the 1st Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army, where he would specialize in chemical warfare. In college, he majored in Latin and Greek Classics, which provided a deep understanding of both linguistics and also philosophy. After putting himself through college, Captain May went into communications as his specialty, where he learned languages such as Russian.

His understanding of these foreign languages had come to him during training at the Defense Language Institute, in Moneterey, California. It was his military intelligence training, that had taught Captain May based on his skill and fluency of foreign languages, as well as his expertise of public affairs, to use the mass media to influence public perception of military issues and subject matter. It was in his work in this area, where the Captain was taught how to work with the mass communications media to manipulate the public perception of such matters as Middle Eastern military and socio-political causes.

It was this training that later taught him just how far over the line the dictatorial Bush regime had gone.

Public affairs is supposed to inform the public of issues of importance, which in theory, is supposed to help the public to become better, more informed citizens. However, in the case of the Bush junta, it has been this same area of public affairs that has abused the public trust, and has manipulated the public mind. Nowhere has this been more apparent than in the matters of the second Iraq war, and in 9/11 itself. In these two matters, it has been the U.S. government itself that has promulgated the most grandiose "conspiracy theories" of the events in New York City and Baghdad.

From 1992 to 2003, Captain May had published five essays in his hometown newspaper, the Houston Chronicle. Three of these five essays spoke of how U.S. presence in Iraq would turn into "quicksand," and the U.S. would become engulfed in a situation in which there could be no clearly-defined winner. The other two essays had predicted failure in Somalia, and foresaw a Houston 9/11-2B style attack.

It is this writer's opinion that this war was, by design, degenerated into a no-win situation from which there could not be an early withdraw. Having a faceless and nebulous enemy would suit the AmeriKan hegemony well --- as untold hundreds of billions --- perhaps trillions --- of dollars would be spent during the U.S. occupation there. The U.S. had clearly gone to Iraq to stay --- to set up permanent military presence there --- and to hold the Middle Eastern oil supply hostage.

By the time of the Battle of Baghdad began, Captain May had begun to question his recent retirement from the U.S. military. Captain May would come to draw a line in the sand --- where he would re-activate himself in what he would come to describe as a "mission of conscience," to help protect the U.S. Constitution from the onslaught that had been undertaken against it by traitorous liars and thieves who by then, occupied the highest levels of the U.S. federal government.

As the Battle of Baghdad turned sour, the mass media co-opted by the Washington, DC propagandists, was filled with news of the rescue of Private Jessica Lynch. The story was what is known as a psychological operation --- designed to convince the public that her rescue was the most important thing going on at that time. This took the attention away from the Battle of Baghdad, which had fallen under a full media blackout of censorship, and a full-out cover-up.

This cover-up has come to be known by Ghost Troop by the following acronym:

Battle of Baghdad Cover-Up = BOBCUP

When Captain May first heard about the battle and the ensuing cover-up, he traveled to Fort Stewart, Georgia to confirm what had happened. Fort Stewart is the home base of the 3rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. Captain May met with the special forces Col. Neal Dennington, who was a chaplain at the base. In effect, the military cover-up was in effect, the U.S. Constitution was by then, null and void, and the military was then under the thumb of a fascistic Commander-In-Chief, would undergo assassinations to keep the word from spreading, and from falling apart, as the NWO is wont to do.

A July 4, 2003 article in the New York Times mentioned that four-hundred women had become increasingly upset at those in charge at Fort Stewart, who were lying to these women about the fate of their husband-soldiers at the Battle of Baghdad. These military widows, and their newly-fatherless children, were being intimidated and "thugged and drugged," as Captain May himself put it. Adding insult to injury, the military's harsh treatment of these family members was simply too much to take.

So, in July 2003, Captain May got an idea ...

After meeting with two of his military buddies from WWII, Captain May came up with the idea for something that would come to be known as GHOST TROOP. Named after and dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Battle of Baghdad, those of the 3/7 Cavalry Division. Captain May reactivated himself as a Commanding Officer in the Info War.


SO, WHO IS GHOST TROOP, AND WHAT IS THEIR MISSION OF CONSCIENCE?

The group known as GHOST TROOP consists of citizens who have dedicated their lives to fighting on the front lines of the Information War. Among those in this group are retired military, researchers, journalists, and those who produce and broadcast their own podcast shows. The total active and reserve membership is approximately 300 patriots, who have dutifully given up their own personal comfort and safety for the GREATER GOOD -- one aspect of which is analyzing data related to forthcoming false-flag terror attacks, in the hopes of preventing such attacks from happening.

Captain May describes the GHOST TROOP objectives as a "Mission of Conscience." This is where something so egregious has happened that it must be opposed at all costs. This is because it goes against the oath originally taken upon joining the military. This is to protect the U.S. Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC. In this instance, it was also the emergence of a fascist dictatorship, ruled by military might, and the mass murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11, war crimes at Abu Gharib and Guantanamo Bay prisons, and the two stolen Presidential elections of 2000 and 2004.

A "Mission of Conscience" is something that must be done, as to remain silent is to provide consent. In my own life, I decided that the best way for me to become involved in the Info War, was to use my skills as a research-journalist to educate the public about what confronts them at the present time. Thus, on June 17, 2005, I joined the Info War on a full-time basis, by publishing The Kentroversy Papers, which continues to have a growing readership. By the end of the first year online, TKP had risen to the TOP 1% of all blog sites, as ranked by Technorati. We are now in the TOP 100,000 blogs, out of 45.7 million total blog sites.

Among the most important aspects of Ghost Troop is the analyzing of data related to terror alerts and the threat of new attacks from within. Because Bush Jr. is currently at an all-time low for Presidential approval ratings -- even lower than Nixon at the lowest of his Watergate lows -- America is in great danger of a new attack on the heartland. And, because these Bush adherents make their money in the energy industry -- we are in danger of an attack on a Texas oil refinery.

On June 23, 2006 -- Captain May stated the following:

"I believe that Ghost Troop has accomplished historic deeds with our successful defense of American cities. I believe we are the first military unit since the Civil War to have saved American lives -- tens of thousands of them -- on American soil."

The WAL-MART company is as un-American as it gets --- as supporting that store is supporting Red China. This is because a tremendous amount of their goods come from Red China, and they have been caught hiring illegal immigrants to work the overnight clean-up shift in the stores, helping to destroy the idea of a minimum wage in this country. Everything now is suddenly up for bid, and they aren't paying that much, as you will see below.

I have a friend who is a manager of a local Wal-Mart, and I am told that this person has to work one shift per week for FREE. Also, there are poor benefits, no job security, and the average Wal-Mart worker makes 39% LESS than the average wage in this country. The full-time pay at Wal-Mart, once the FREE hours are counted, is below the poverty level.

This is a disgrace, and is WHY I refuse to shop there.

Gold and Silver are two different metals, with two different levels of rarity, two different monetary values, and two different levels of investment based on the availability of the metal. Because of this, these two charts above SHOULD BE showing different curves.

Then, how could the two charts above, show IDENTICAL CURVES? This is self-evident, when the charts are examined. What this suggests is heavy market manipulation --- which would only happen when MASS QUANTITIES of Gold and Silver inventories were dumped upon the open market --- dropping their value --- just as we have seen in the past few weeks.

The fundementals of the American economy have remained the same; the USA is hopelessly bankrupt, and the nation is on the verge of a Depression that will make 1929-1934 look like small potatoes. With an $8.5 TRILLION federal deficit strangling the life out of Lady Liberty herself, the Federal Reserve dollar has continued to dip against the €uro currency, which at the present time, is the strongest curency on the planet. And, the only reason for the success of the €uro is because of the fact that it is a relatively new currency.

Because there is an inverse relationship between the precious metals and national currencies, the only thing that explains the above is the mass dumping of untold $ BILLIONS worth of both Gold and Silver on the open market. And who would have the ability to do this in such huge quantities? The Rothschilds and the Rockefellers, and others of their ilk from the globalist Illuminati community of interbred families.

I would suggest that anyone who has even a small amount of Gold and/or Silver keep and eye on this situation, and I will also keep my trained eye upon this matter, and will advise my readers accordingly.

HACKER UNCOVERS U.S. SPACE NAVY

Gary McKinnon, an English computer hacker, was caught snooping around in the Pentagon's computer systems. He faces 70 years in prison for what he discovered --- a list of 'non-terrestrial officers' belonging to something called the U.S. Space Navy. This is rather interesting, as the globalist Illuminati group have a habit of showing the public truth in fiction, before they bring that truth out into the light of day.

I am a long-time TREKKER --- which refers to the Star Trek TV shows and movies, of which I am a fan, going back to when I was five years old, when the first Star Trek series had made it onto the television schedule back in 1966. For those readers who are keeping score --- I was and still am --- a fan of Mr. Spock.

When the various Star Trek series were released in DVD box-sets, my wife and I were watching an episode of The Next Generation one night, and they showed a SPACEDOCK, just like the photo below.

While watching this episode on DVD, a powerful feeling overwhelmed me. I mentioned to my wife, "They really do have this sort of thing orbiting the Earth, right now, and no one even knows about this." I stated, matter of factly.

Considering that the RAND CORPORATION was known to be one of the consultants on the original Star Trek series (1966-1969) --- it seemed axiomatic that this was something TRUE that they were showing us, right here on American television. No one would ever know about this --- because no one from the ground can see that far into the space of our upper atmosphere.

And considering Gary McKinnon's discovery, it appears as that I was correct about my assumption.

Gary McKinnon, the English hacker facing 70 years in U.S. prison for searching Pentagon sites for UFO evidence, says the weirdest thing he found was a list of "Non-Terrestrial Officers" and fleet transfers between ships that don't exist in the U.S. Navy.

"I found a list of officers' names," he claims, "under the heading Non-Terrestrial Officers."

N.Y. report denounces shock use at school

N.Y. REPORT DENOUNCES ELECTRO-SHOCK USE AT SCHOOL

New York education officials issued a scathing report yesterday on a Massachusetts school that punishes troubled and disabled students with electric shocks, finding that they can be shocked for simply nagging the teacher and that some are forced to wear shock devices in the bathtub or shower, posing an electrocution hazard.

The report, based in part on an inspection last month of the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center in Canton, portrayed a school in which most staff lack training to handle the students and seem more focused on punishing bad behavior than encouraging good acts.

The investigators said some forms of discipline, such as a device that delivers shocks at timed intervals, appear to violate federal safety regulations, and students live in an atmosphere of "pervasive fears and anxieties."

The report, denounced by Rotenberg officials as biased, is expected to play a key role next Monday when education regulators in New York are scheduled to vote on whether to severely restrict the use of painful punishment on students from New York.

Two-thirds of Rotenberg's students are sent from New York. The inspectors said they had notified officials in Massachusetts and at the US Food and Drug Administration about possible violations of state and federal safety rules.

There have been increasing allegations of abuse at the Rotenberg Center in recent months.

They include several assertions that students have been badly burned by the shock devices, known as graduated electronic decelerators. The Massachusetts Disabled Persons Protection Commission has received 22 allegations of abuse at the school since January, including 12 that involve injuries. Rotenberg officials have steadfastly denied the charges, but commission officials say that at least two have been substantiated.

Yesterday, a lawyer for the school, Michael Flammia, said the New York report grossly distorts what goes on at the school, which is often used as a place of last resort for students with autism, mental retardation, or behavioral problems. School districts in several states, including Massachusetts, refer students to Rotenberg after other methods to control their behavior, such as hospitalization or drugs, have failed.

The school has about 250 students, about half of whom wear electric shock devices that teachers can activate around the clock.

"These findings are completely false. They are the product of a biased review team sent by the New York State Education Department for the specific purpose of making derogatory findings" about the center, said Flammia, who denied that students are forced to wear shock devices in the shower.

He also said that New York officials are mistaken in asserting that the school is violating FDA or Massachusetts rules.

Flammia noted that New York inspectors had given the Judge Rotenberg Center high marks for safety last September, but he believes they turned against the school after the publicity surrounding a lawsuit filed this spring by the mother of a New York student.

Some parents of Rotenberg students rallied behind the school, as they have in the past, saying that most people don't understand how serious their children's problems are. The school, which costs states and school districts more than $200,000 a year per student, helps students who have failed everywhere else, they say, and turns to shocks and other punishments only if less painful methods fail.

"This school has saved my daughter's life," said Marcia Shear of Long Island, whose 13-year-old daughter, Samantha, used to punch herself in the head so often that she detached both retinas.

After she received a few high-level shocks, Shear said, the self-abuse stopped. "I am livid at these people and pieces of garbage who think they know what they're doing. Let them come and sit with my child and go through what I've gone through for 11 years."

The 26-page New York report intensified a debate over the Judge Rotenberg Center's methods that has gone on for much of its 35 years. The latest controversy began in March, when Evelyn Nicholson of Freeport, N.Y., went public with a charge that her son, Antwone, had been mistreated at the school, where he was shocked 79 times over 1 1/2 years. She initially consented to the procedure to curb her son's aggressive behavior, but said she changed her mind after Antwone became increasingly desperate to get away.

"There's no education in what's happening here," said Ken Mollins , a lawyer representing the Nicholson family, which is suing New York for $10 million. "The head of this institution calls this therapy. I think this is more like a domestic torture chamber."

The New York inspectors found that more than two-thirds of the direct-care providers at the Rotenberg Center have completed only a high school education, which they said "in many cases . . . is not sufficient to oversee the intensive treatment of children with challenging emotional and behavioral problems."

They also noted that only six of the 17 clinicians who oversee mental-health care at the school have a license in psychology.

The inspectors said the school appeared to violate FDA regulations in several ways, including a policy that allows the parents of students to administer shocks to students after only minimal training. The New York report also said that the school appears to violate Massachusetts regulations that allow painful punishments only for "extraordinarily difficult or dangerous behavioral problems," noting that they witnessed one student who was threatened with a shock after sneezing in class. School officials said no shock had been given in this case.

Finally, the report raised concerns about students' nutrition because the Judge Rotenberg Center withholds food as a punishment. The report found that one New York student was in a program where he could be denied up to 25 percent of his normal food intake.

New York Deputy Education Commissioner Rebecca Cort said the report painted a much darker picture of the Rotenberg Center than last year's review, because the state took a more in-depth look, including a surprise inspection that showed the school's practices are a lot different from written treatment plans for students.

Rotenberg's Flammia said the school was never given a chance to review the report before it was made public and he said the school would demand a fair chance to respond. He warned that if New York students are denied access to the Rotenberg Center, the state could be sued by parents of children who hurt themselves as a result.

Supporters of a bill in the Massachusetts Legislature to ban the use of electric shocks on students said they hoped the New York report would give new momentum to their efforts to force the school to change its methods or close. A proposed ban was written into the state budget passed by the Senate, but the House of Representatives has not taken a position.

"It's troubling that it's necessary for New York officials to point out the violations of Massachusetts law taking place at this facility," said state Senator Brian Joyce, the Milton Democrat who has led the effort to ban electric shock.

HIGH COURT BACKS POLCIE NO-KNOCK SEARCHES

Washington - The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that police armed with a warrant can barge into homes and seize evidence even if they don't knock, a huge government victory that was decided by President Bush's new justices.

The 5-4 ruling signals the court's conservative shift following the departure of moderate Sandra Day O'Connor.

Dissenting justices predicted that police will now feel free to ignore previous court rulings that officers with search warrants must knock and announce themselves or run afoul of the Constitution's Fourth Amendment ban on unreasonable searches.

Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for the majority, said Detroit police acknowledge violating that rule when they called out their presence at a man's door, failed to knock, then went inside three seconds to five seconds later. The court has endorsed longer waits, of 15 seconds to 20 seconds.

"Whether that preliminary misstep had occurred or not, the police would have executed the warrant they had obtained, and would have discovered the gun and drugs inside the house," Scalia wrote.

Suppressing evidence is too high of a penalty, Scalia said, for errors by police in failing to properly announce themselves.

The outcome might have been different if O'Connor were still on the bench. She seemed ready, when the case was first argued in January, to rule in favor of Booker Hudson, whose house was searched in 1998.

O'Connor had worried aloud that officers around the country might start bursting into homes to execute search warrants. She asked: "Is there no policy of protecting the home owner a little bit and the sanctity of the home from this immediate entry?"

She retired before the case was decided, and a new argument was held so that Justice Samuel Alito could participate in deliberations. Alito and Bush's other Supreme Court pick, Chief Justice John Roberts, supported Scalia's opinion.

Hudson's lawyers argued that evidence against him was connected to the improper search and could not be used at his trial. He was convicted of drug possession.

Scalia said that a victory for Hudson would have given "a get-out-of-jail-free card" to him and others.

In a dissent, four justices complained that the decision erases more than 90 years of Supreme Court precedent.

"It weakens, perhaps destroys, much of the practical value of the Constitution's knock-and-announce protection," Justice Stephen Breyer wrote for himself and the three other liberal members.

Breyer said that police can now enter homes without knocking and waiting a short time if they know that there is no punishment for it.

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy, a moderate, joined the conservatives in most of the ruling. He wrote his own opinion, however, to say "it bears repeating that it is a serious matter if law enforcement officers violate the sanctity of the home by ignoring the requisites of lawful entry."

Kennedy said that legislatures can intervene if police officers do not "act competently and lawfully." He also said that people whose homes are wrongly searched can file a civil rights lawsuit.

And Scalia wrote that there are public-interest law firms and attorneys who specialize in civil rights grievances.

In response, Breyer said there is no evidence of anyone collecting much money in such cases.

The case is Hudson v. Michigan, 04-1360.

CAPT. ERIC MAY, PATRIOT ON A "MISSION OF CONSCIENCE"

Every so often, a patriotic hero comes along, who commands our attention. Such people are courageous, selfless, dedicated to their cause, and possess boundless energy which carries them through their tough mission. Captain Eric May, commander of the cyberwarrior group known as GHOST TROOP is such an individual. In this first in a series of articles on Captain May and GHOST TROOP, I will take the reader to the front lines of the cyberwar of the 21st century, known to all patriots at the INFORMATION WAR (Info War).

For me, the story began on January 24, 2006, when I tuned in to THE INVESTIGATIVE JOURNAL talk-radio program hosted by Greg Szymanski on the Republic Broadcast Network, and found the guest that day to be Captain Eric May of a group he referred to as GHOST TROOP --- a group that I had never heard of before, but a group that captured my attention and imagination once I had been introduced to them and their activities. The links to that days' two-hour interview can be found below, in the SOURCES section at the end of this article.

My admiration for this man grew as the interview progressed, and I immediately set about writing about what I heard that day. The article that I eventually wrote was entitled 'Planned Countdown To Thermonuclear War,' and was published on March 5, 2006. Captain May and Ghost Troop exist to STOP what he describes as the next 9/11, which carries the codename 9/11-2B. After writing this article, I set about reading the material that Captain May has published on the Internet, and all the links are below, for your own use and information.

The plan is simple --- by casting the white hot light of truth upon the very real threat of further false-flag terror attacks against the USA, and by promoting these through the media and person-to-person, they can be stopped from occurring. Captain May and Ghost Troop has already stopped several attacks from happening, including one in his own home city of Houston, Texas USA. By using various crypto-numerological techniques, the codes used by the REAL TERRORISTS can be broken, just as Ghost Troop has already done.

In the case of what I refer to as the 'Super 9/11' plot, there are plans afoot to bring about a nuclear attack on the city of Texas City (in the Houston area), just as with Oklahoma City, and New York City before it. This will provide the pretext and full justification for MARTIAL LAW and the permanent revocation of the U.S. Constitution, which would paralyze this nation, and bring about a hitherto unsurpassed tidal wave of fear to middle class America. The idea is to ratchet up the fear and devastation with each succeeding terror attack, and this has already been the case with Waco, WTC '93, Oklahoma City, 9/11, and the next attack will allow the false-flag terrorists to tear apart this nation's proud heritage, dragging us closer to the one-world government and religion of their Satanic desire.

With a nuclear attack on Iran now imminent, we are in perhaps the greatest amount of danger since the morning of 9/11 itself. An attack on American soil would be blamed on Iran, and many would be leading the battle cry to 'take them out,' even without substantive proof that it was Iran who were responsible for such an attack. This is just what happened with 9/11 --- where George Bush Jr. has repeatedly tried to link 9/11 to Osama Bin Laden AND Saddam Hussein. As we already know, there is no such linkage, and Bush Jr. has lost nearly all of his credibility by asserting that there IS such a linkage.


WHO IS GHOST TROOP, AND HOW DID THEY COME INTO EXISTENCE?

Ghost Troop got started in March 2003, when Captain May and two of his WWII veteran friends came together to discuss the increasingly dangerous situation in which America found itself. The discussion between these three war heroes turned to Iraq, and the quagmire that had developed there, perhaps by design. The three men became worried that the ultimate conclusion to the Iraq situation would result in a FASCIST POLICE STATE here in America; a view to which I fully agree.

On April 4, 2003 --- something that has come to be known as the BATTLE OF BAGHDAD began at the Baghdad airport, and continued throughout the city over the next several days. The 3rd Infantry Division of the US Army were badly injured at the Baghdad airport, and the U.S. military CENSORED the entire affair, in the same way that they have forbidden photos of flag-draped caskets.

Oh well, so much for our so-called FREE PRESS.

The Private Jessica Lynch story provided the necessary distraction that the Pentagon needed to take away interest in the Baghdad Airport firestorm. This story began the day after the airport defeat, and lasted long enough for the staged toppling of Saddam's statue four days after the battle had begun.

Captain May activated himself under the auspices of defending the Constitution against all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC --- which was from where the current assault originated.

As this new conflict was essentially an Information War, Captain May then took his heroic cause to the media of the United States. He got in touch with his media contacts, warning them of this new insidious and evil enemy that had blossomed from within the U.S. government, bringing our nation closer by the day to a fascist police state of an Orwellian nightmare.

For this time, the enemies were fully inside the gates, and were dismantling the Constitution and our God-given rights piece by piece, day by day.

Captain May had contacted the Chief Pentagon correspondent of the New York Times, and he has involved some very important people in the GHOST TROOP program of truth. Among the VIP's who have participated are Thom Shanker, the Chief Pentagon Correspondent for the New York Times, who 'rode along' with Ghost Troop as a mascot for the first year of operations; and Chase Untermeyer, Captain May's best friend from his Houston days, who served as Ghost Troop chaplain for the unit's first three years of operations, even while serving as Ambassador to Qatar!

Since mobilizing his "mission of conscience," Captain May has enlisted the help of many prominent Americans in trying to get the word out to the American people. I am proud to say that I have been contacted because of my research and writing skill, as well as the general success of this website --- to assist in the public relations aspect of the Ghost Troop mission. While I am not directly a member of Ghost Troop (yet!) --- I have accepted the clarion call and the responsibility of acting as correspondent in helping get the word out to the American people.

In the next article of this ongoing investigative series, I will begin to discuss the dangers that we currently face as a nation and as a global community. The next false-flag terror attack may be only days away, and it is vitally important that all readers pass this information along to as many people as possible, so Ghost Troop can further avert coming terror events. As a research-journalist, an American, and a patriot --- I can think of nothing more important that I should be devoting my time to at the moment.

On June 14, 2006, George Carlin made his 140th appearance on THE TONIGHT SHOW. During this appearance, he repeated a short piece that could be entitled "The Difference Between Heaven and Hell." He was on the show to promote the Disney/Pixar animated film CARS, in which he performs the voice of the VW Bus named FILLMORE. Carlin pointed out that the character's name refers to the Fillmore East and Fillmore West --- two legendary concert venues that hosted hundreds of concerts in the late 60's and early 70's, which were promoted by the late Bill Graham.

I thought that this was funny, on the mark, and an appropriate laugh break from the usual serious fare as normally presented here on this site. In my opinion, George Carlin is a national comedic treasure, and he mentioned during this appearance that not only was he in his 50th year in show business, he is also 69 years old.

Mr. Carlin is a humorist on the level of Will Rogers, and should be named the National Comic Laureate!

HOW TO DEAL WITH POLICE OFFICERS - MAGIC WORDS?

When dealing with the police, keep your hands in view and don't make sudden movements. Avoid passing behind them. Nervous cops are dangerous cops. Also, never touch the police or their equipment (vehicles, flashlights, animals, etc.) - you can get beat up and charged with assault.

The police do not decide your charges; they can only make recommendations. The prosecutor is the only person who can actually charge you. Remember this the next time the cops start rattling off all the charges they're supposedly "going to give you."


Questioning

Interrogation isn't always bright lights and rubber hoses - usually it's just a conversation. Whenever the cops ask you anything besides your name and address, it's legally safest to (respectfully) say these Magic Words:

"I am going to remain silent. I want to see a lawyer."

This invokes the rights which protect you from interrogation. When you say this, the cops (and all other law enforcement officials) are legally required to stop asking you questions. They probably won't stop, so just repeat the Magic Words or remain silent until they catch on.

Remember, anything you say to the authorities can and will be used against you and your friends in court. There's no way to predict what information the police might try to use or how they'd use it. Plus, the police often misquote or lie altogether about what was said. So say only the Magic Words and let all the cops and witnesses know that this is your policy. Make sure that when you're arrested with other people, the rest of the group knows the Magic Words and promises to use them.

One of the jobs of cops is to get information out of people, and they usually don't have any scruples about how they do it. Cops are legally allowed to lie when they're investigating, and they are trained to be manipulative. The only thing you should say to cops, other than identifying yourself, are the Magic Words:

"I am going to remain silent. I want to see a lawyer."

Here are some lies they will tell you:

"You're not a suspect - just help us understand what happened here and then you can go."

"If you don't answer my questions, I'll have no choice but to arrest you. Do you want to go to jail?"

"If you don't answer my questions, I'm going to charge you with resisting arrest."

"All of your friends have cooperated and we let them go home. You're the only one left."

Cops are sneaky buggers and there are lots of ways they can trick you into talking. Here are some scams they'll pull:


Good Cop/ Bad Cop:

Bad cop is aggressive and menacing, while good cop is nice, friendly, and familiar (usually good cop is the same race and gender as you). The idea is bad cop scares you so bad you are desperately looking for a friend. Good cop is that friend.

The cops will tell you that your friends ratted on you so that you will snitch on them. Meanwhile, they tell your friends the same thing. If anyone breaks and talks, you all go down.

The cops will tell you that they have all the evidence they need to convict you and that if you "take responsibility" and confess the judge will be impressed by your honesty and go easy on you. What they really mean is:

"We don't have enough evidence yet, please confess."

Jail is a very isolating and intimidating place. It is really easy to believe what the cops tell you. Insist upon speaking with a lawyer before you answer any questions or sign anything.

The Golden Rule: Never trust a cop.


The Miranda Warnings

The police do not have to read you your rights (also known as the Miranda warnings). Miranda applies when there is (a) an interrogation (b) by a police officer of other agent of law enforcement (c) while the suspect is in police custody (you do not have to be formally arrested to be "in custody"). Even when all these conditions are met, the police intentionally violate Miranda. And though your rights have been violated, what you say can be used against you. For this reason, it is better not to wait for the cops, you know what your rights are, so you can invoke them by saying the Magic Words,

"I am going to remain silent. I want to see a lawyer."

If you've been arrested and realize that you have started answering questions, don't panic. Just re-invoke your rights by saying the Magic Words again. Don't let them trick you into thinking that because you answered some of their questions, you have to answer all of them.


Police Encounters

There are three basic types of encounters with the police: Conversation, Detention, and Arrest.

Conversation

When the cops are trying to get information, but don't have enough evidence to detain or arrest you, they'll try to weasel some information out of you. They may call this a "casual encounter" or a "friendly conversation." If you talk to them, you may give them the information they need to arrest you or your friends. In most situations, it's better and safer not to talk to cops.

Detention

Police can detain you only if they have reasonable suspicion (see below) that you are involved in a crime. Detention means that, though you aren't arrested, you can't leave. Detention is supposed to last a short time and they aren't supposed to move you. During detention, the police can pat you down and go into your bag to make sure you don't have any weapons. They aren't supposed to go into your pockets unless they feel a weapon.

If the police are asking questions, ask if you are being detained. If not, leave and say nothing else to them. If you are being detained, you may want to ask why. Then you should say the Magic Words: "I am going to remain silent. I want a lawyer" and nothing else.

A detention can easily turn into arrest. If the police are detaining you and they get information that you are involved in a crime, they will arrest you, even if it has nothing to do with your detention. For example, if someone gets pulled over for speeding (detained) and the cop sees drugs in the car, the cops will arrest her for possession of the drugs even though it has nothing to do with her getting pulled over. Cops have two reasons to detain you: 1) they are writing you a citation (a traffic ticket, for example), or 2) they want to arrest you but they don't have enough information yet to do so.

Arrest

Police can arrest you only if they have probable cause (see below) that you are involved in a crime. When you are arrested, the cops can search you to the skin and go through you car and any belongings. By law, an officer strip searching you must be the same gender as you.

If the police come to your door with an arrest warrant, go outside and lock the door behind you. Cops are allowed to search any room you go into, so don't go back into the house for any reason. If they have an arrest warrant, hiding won't help because they are allowed to force their way in if they know you are there. It's usually better to just go with them without giving them an opportunity to search.


Reasonable Suspicion vs. Probable Cause

Reasonable suspicion must be based on more than a hunch - cops must be able to put their suspicion into words. For example, cops can't just stop someone and say, "She looked like she was up to something." They need to be more specific, like, "She was standing under the overpass staring up at some graffiti that hadn't been there 2 hours ago. She had the same graffiti pattern written on her backpack. I suspected that she had put up the graffiti."

Cops need more proof to say they have a probable cause than to say they have a reasonable suspicion. For example, "A store owner called to report someone matching her description tagging a wall across the street. As I drove up to the store, I saw her running away spattered with paint and carrying a spray can in her hand."


Searches

Never consent to a search! If the police try to search your house, car, backpack, pockets, etc. say the Magic Words 2: "I do not consent to this search." This may not stop them from forcing their way in and searching anyway, but if they search you illegally, they probably won't be able to use the evidence against you in court. You have nothing to lose from refusing to consent to a search and lots to gain. Do not physically resist cops when they are trying to search because you could get hurt and charged with resisting arrest or assault. Just keep repeating the Magic Words, so that the cops and all witnesses know that this is your policy.

Be careful about casual consent. That is, if you are stopped by the cops and you get out of the car but don't close the door, they can search the car and claim that they though you were indicating consent by leaving the door ajar. Also, if you say, "I'd rather you didn't search," they can claim that you were reluctantly giving them permission to search. Always just say the Magic Words: "I do not consent to this search."

If the cops have a search warrant, nothing changes - it's legally safest to just say the Magic Words. Again, you have nothing to lose from refusing to consent to a search, and lots to gain if the search warrant is incorrect or invalid in some way. If they do have a search warrant, ask to read it. A valid warrant must have a recent date (usually not more than a couple of weeks), the correct address, and a judge's or magistrate's signature; some warrants indicate the time of day the cops can search. You should say the Magic Words 2 whether or not the search warrant appears correct. The same goes for any government official who tries to search you, your belongings, or your house.


Infiltrators and Informants

Undercover cops sometimes infiltrate political organizations. They can lie about being cops even if asked directly. Undercover cops can even break the law (narcs get hazard pay for doing drugs as part of their cover) and encourage others to do so as well. This is not legally entrapment.


FBI and other government agents

The essence of the Magic Words "I'm keeping my mouth shut until I talk to a lawyer" not only applies to police but also to the FBI, INS, CIA, even IRS. If you want to be nice and polite, tell them that you don't wish to speak with them until you've spoken with your lawyer, or that you won't answer questions without a lawyer present. If you are being investigated as a result of your political activity, you can call the National Lawyers Guild at (415) 582-1055; they will help you find a lawyer you can talk to.


Taking Notes

Whenever you interact with or observe the police, always write down what is said and who said it. Write down the cops' names and badge numbers and the names and contact information of any witnesses. Record everything that happens. If you are expecting a lot of police contact, get in the habit of carrying a small tape recorder and a camera with you. Be careful - cops don't like people taking notes, especially if the cops are planning on doing something illegal. Observing them and documenting their actions may have very different results; for example, it may cause them to respond aggressively, or it may prevent them from abusing you or your friends.


Conclusion

People deal with police in all kinds of circumstances. You must make an individual decision about how you will interact with law enforcement. It is important to know your legal rights, but it is also important for you to decide when and how to use them in order to best protect yourself.
